Why pay rent indeed? Let’s see… according to a web calculator, this would require (with a 10% deposit):
- Fixed 30: $3,232.52
- ARM: $2,818
- ARM IO: $2,187.50
We’ll conveniently ignore tax and maintenance – those things take care of themselves.
Oh but wait – you can rent a 3br/1ba duplex for just $2150.
Deal, or no deal?

no deal

Deal!!! After all, house prices always go up. I can buy this puppy now and in 3 years, it will be worth 700k. If I keep it 5 years, it will be worth over 1 mill! I could be a millionaire within 5 years! Who wouldn’t take that deal?
They’re not making any more land, you know…

You should always do the payment calculations on every posting. That is a entertaining, and cool piece of data.

I would – but it only makes sense when you have a rental price to compare against. There’s a really good example coming a few days though. Stay tuned.

I have actually seen a higher price for a smaller home in the east oakland ghetto,at the peak of the market.at least you don’t have to worry about having your pit bull stolen if you buy this pos.
