Not always true – last year burbed featured a house that had 888 in the price and it was offered by a person who was not Chinese.
It would’ve been more accurate to say that this is a gimmick designed to attract Chinese buyers.
As another example, if you drive by Mountain View BMW, all the used cars are $xx,888.

I moved here from AZ so I rented about 1/4 mile from that house you posted. This piece of shit house sold for $1M. POS? first, it smells bad like someone died and shit in their pants. second, as you walk in there is a huge fucking crack from floor to ceiling. third, it’s 100 feet from Bollinger Rd., which is a busy street.
I don’t understand why people are so fucking insane here. I shouldn’t talk as I bought a place in the Evergreen hills for $1.25M for a 7 year old house 3200 sq. feet. Only reason I was able to do so was to put down $600K that I made in my previous house sold in 3/05.
The decision to buy wasn’t mine but driven by my wife and I made clear to her that we’ll probably lose $400K of that down payment.
