Burbed's Employer of the Year
Google’s Buses Help Its Workers Beat the Rush – New York Times
Instead of making it easier for employees to live far from work, Facebook, the social networking site, makes it easier for them to live nearby: it offers a $600 monthly housing subsidy for those who live within a mile of the company’s Palo Alto headquarters.
Congratulations to Facebook! For helping your employees live near your office, I award you the Burbed Employer of the Year award.
Imagine what a beautiful place the Bay Area will be as more employers starting offering housing subsidies. It’ll only get more special!

Hmm… Is this sarcasm, and if so, what’s wrong with what Facebook is doing?

It’s mildly sarcastic. There’s nothing wrong with what Facebook is doing perse… it’s more a reflection of how Bay Area housing has become a Prisoner’s Dilemma type of situation.

I don’t think it wrong of Facebook to provide incentive for its employees to live close to work. I’m surprise not more employers are taking initive to do more, especially with global warming becoming more prevalent.
For those working parents, here is a link a site that provides some useful tools for parents-schoolparent.net. They have useful online school directory and sign-up sheet features. You can request an invitation from their site if you want to
join.
