[Ad] Support Burbed – not your Realtor!
Can’t afford a 1 bedroom house in Gilroy or East Palo Alto?
Well, worry not – you can afford a great web home!
Let me introduce you to Dreamhost – the hosting provider that Burbed.com uses.
For just $119.40 a year (or $190.80 for 2 years – a 20% savings!) you get 200GB of disk space, 2TB of bandwidth, and one free domain name registration.
Yep… 200GB – not 200MB. It’s like having a McMansion in Detroit, for the price of a mobile home in Sunnyvale. And like the Winchester Mysterious Mansion, your space and bandwidth will automatically grow each week.
And, if you click this link and enter “burbed” as the promo code, you get $10 off. Click and check out the amazing features you get at these low prices. It’s better than a new built in Stockton!
Sign up today, and help Burbed.com out! This makes a great gift for someone for the holidays.
Or, if you don’t need hosting services, you can also help out Burbed like Todd did this week by making a contribution:
Thanks readers! Thanks Todd!

Hi all,
Living in NJ and about to get a job offer from a company in Sunnyvale.
Seriously depressed with what is available in the valley.
Any suggestions on where to look for a fixer upper or is the whole valley totally berserk?
Also, what are the property taxes in the valley? Looking at MLS and it gives the price but no tax estimate . . . so no idea how much to tack on to the monthly mortgage.
By the way. Great site Todd.
Thanks
-Peter

Todd was a donor. The owner/editor of this site is simply named Burbed.
Anyway, you can look through zillow to see what people paid in property taxes in 2006. Property taxes are generally lower here than in NJ where they are pretty steep. They’re also locked so once you buy, you get to push the cost of the police/etc to the new comers to your neighborhood. And encourages horrible schools:

In any case, check out this site on Monday for a great affordable fixer upper!
