Mountain View Housing Market is UNSTOPPABLE

Mountain View Voice : Housing market through the roof
In the second quarter of 2007, single-family homes sold in Mountain View within 13 days — consistently the shortest time on the market of any city in the South Bay or lower Peninsula within the last nine months. Sunnyvale and Palo Alto were close behind.

Days on the market is the best way to gauge demand, experts say, making Mountain View the most sought-after property in the region.

The median price of homes has jumped to $1.1 million, up from $882,000 in the first quarter of 2006. Homes in the Monta Loma neighborhood, for example, are now in the $850,000 range and typically sell within eight days.

Go Mountain View! Congrats!

22% price cut in Millbrae

Does this look familiar?

1003hemlockb.jpg

It should!

Please don’t drink the hemlock — Burbed.com: Your San Francisco Bay Area Home and Mortgage Insanity Blog

Wowsers – a 22% price cut. Unbelievable. Doesn’t this person know he’s ruining for the rest of us?

Well, fortunately this is in Millbrae – which is special, don’t get me wrong, and it’s right next to caltrain and power lines, which is special still – but it’s not super super special. Know what I mean?

Zillow says the owner paid $476,275 on 8/21/2006. Sounds like a loss to me.

Partial Basement Wall to Wall Carpeting Vinyl Floors

I’m not sure how this is the Best Value considering that this is $891 per square foot, but it certainly does have Nice Curb Appeal! That’s why the photo is so tightly cropped to the house – with its beautiful electrical box right on the side.

BTW, this house sold in 2005 for $605,000. So if this sells for $639,000 – the current owner will barely break even. So better stop by soon, it won’t last long (even though it’s been on the market since 5/1!)

ALL NEW remodelded home offers great location & Campbell living!! 2,250 sqft. of living spc. 4 Bdrms & 3 bath rms. Beautiful kitchen w/ granite coutner tops& NEW highest quality appl. Gorgeous oak hrdwd flrs. PLENTY of dual pane

I love how this house is over $1 million dollars, but yet the description is so… well… chump change. Plenty of dual pane? What, this million dollar house has so many windows you can’t count them all? And what exactly is “Campbell living” anyway? How does it differ than, say, Sunnyvale living? Is it more special? Does it mean “enjoy the roar of 17 all day and night”?

Now, I’m not sure if centric means “near railroad tracks” and “near industrial warehouses”, but if so, this house is very centric.

Here, let’s take a look in Live Maps to see what your neighbors might be like:

Nothing says “safe community” like this! At $540k though, this is a steal! Get it now before it’s stolen!

Serious: Want to be on TV? How about "My House is Worth What?"

The folks at HGTV asked if I was interested in passing this along to Burbed readers – sure why not!

Pie Town Television Productions: My House is Worth What? – Show Info
³MY HOUSE IS WORTH WHAT?²
Is Coming to San Francisco!!

My House Is Worth What? is a top-rated series on HGTV that began airing in
August 2006.

Finally, viewers will get the information they¹ve always wanted:

How much is my house worth?

With the current ebb and flow of the real estate market, many homeowners
want to find out the value of their home. Is it beneficial to sell or
renovate? Did that past remodeling project really increase the home¹s
worth? My House Is Worth What assesses home values all over the U.S. and
educate homeowners about their home¹s potential worth. Along the way you¹ll
get a whirlwind tour of cities and towns across America and find out about
the different housing markets.

In each city real estate experts will provide homeowners with their
expertise and evaluate each home¹s worth by looking at the local market and
community. Homeowners will invite viewers and a local real estate expert
into their homes and show us around, explaining why they bought the house
and their plans for it. Best of all, we¹ll learn what the house is worth
and the considerations that affect its value.

We are currently looking for homeowners who are interested in finding out
the value of their home and sharing their story with viewers. We¹re looking
for homeowners who¹ve lived in their houses at least 1 year, and who have
made some renovations to the home since moving in. Homeowners chosen to
appear on the show would receive a free evaluation of the current market
value of their home by a local real estate expert. Homeowners would be
needed for one day of taping between the week of August 13, 2007.

For more information, please contact Claire Feeney at

New tagline needed for the Bay Area

Yesterday “Alex” posted this comment:

OK, OK, we get it now. Your “Bay Area is SO Special” tagline is getting worn a little thin. Do you have any others?

Touche!
