Does this house look familiar? It should – it was featured previously on this site:

Wow… a 25% price cut. Well, that doesn’t really mean anything – I hear that Daly City isn’t part of the Bay Area anymore – just like how Gilroy was recently removed.

Wait a minute… according to Zillow:

Sale History
04/20/2007:     $558,763
05/30/2006:     $815,000
04/05/2004:     $575,000

Ok… I’m super mega confused. What’s going on here?

Maybe the drop in price reflects the drop in square footage!

25% price cut, but square footage went from 2500 down to 940.

First time round I thought 2500 sqft looked incredibly big for that hunk of yellow baby vomit.

Maybe you sell the whole house, then follow it up by selling the garage, err other 2 bed/1 bath area.

    Regardless, it’s very special.

Are Zestimates reliable enough to cite, even? I don’t see how trends in Zestimates are instructive, based on what I’m hearing regarding their accuracy… I’m happy to be told otherwise.

  4. gfw Says:

Sorry– Just realized they were *sales* prices from Zillow, not Zestimates. Although, I am still interested in what people think of zestimates.

As for the unaccountable rise in home price, maybe it was foreclosed in April and had a fresh coat of yellow paint put on.

  5. Moe Says:

The public info on Zillow says the lot is 2,500 sq. ft., but the house itself is only 940.

It would be kind of funny if this (innocent?) mix-up resulted in the huge jump in price last year. Funny in the sense that stupid people are often richer than me and the universe isn’t fair.

New here, hi. I’d *really* like to know how that mix-up of 1500 sq. ft. extra influenced the price as it did. & also — who thought the yellow would sell? Anybody bet Home Depot was having a sale on mismixed paint?

But damn, I found the house we rented for ten years on that site for 619K. I think he’s been trying to sell it for at least five years if that’s the same owner that rented to my family before we moved to Dallas. It looks like his car. Eh, if somebody wants to pay six hundred thousand dollars to live down the hill from the fish place, that’s their business.

  7. Area 51 Says:

    That’s easy,
some “greater fool” bought for $815k, now he is in deep doo doo when all double and triple mortgages reset……
And ICE came knocking on his door……….
Guess he thought that barf box would sell for $1Mil+ in a couple years.

  8. Area 51 Says:

Folks, Folks, NOW I see what’s going on…….
Have you looked at the additional photos?
Not only do you get the ectoplasm green interior, but you get a SECOND HOUSE.
*That’s* where the extra square footage comes in. You see the last photo is of “another* cute blue house.
    See? it’s 2-For-1! Now that’s drama pricing!

  9. burbed Says:

Yeah I’m really perplexed by that last photo

This home is a Countrywide foreclosure! Man.. I didn’t know it was this ugly. I listed it in my post here:

  11. sg Says:

Check out the last price. Now it is at 575K.
