Bay Area is more expensive than Manhattan!

Housing Costs Consumed More of Paychecks in 2006 – New York Times
The combined five boroughs of New York City were far down the list, at $496,000, but New York County — that is, Manhattan — finished fourth among counties, with median home values of $788,000.

OMG. Can you believe that? That boring nowheresville Manhattan only has a median home value of $788,000!

Finally the myth has been shattered!

Right now, even Mountain View, which has a Walmart and a Costco – things Manhattan doesn’t have – has a higher median home value! $691-$790-$1.1 million (depending on the zip code).

Palo Alto, which has FaceBook and Steve Jobs, is way over the Manhattan median.

I think it’s time for an update on median income vs. median house price for the bay area vs. nyc.

Just for fun, you ought to throw in some other cities if you can find the stats.
