San Jose in particular has gotten pretty bad as of late. Some friends of ours live in a nice little residential neighborhood (not a traditional subdivision -- the houses actually look different), and at least 20% of the houses are on the market. Many of them have tall weeds and over grown bushes out front, so they've probably been empty for months.

I see similar things in Milpitas.

Those sign pollutions are pretty common everywhere in bay area now. Just drive anywhere in bay area on Sunday morning, you will notice that sidewalk in every intersection is clogged with "open home" signs. Sometimes they are so many that they become hazard for blind and disabled people.

> "“why is it that all of my neighbor’s houses in Los Altos doubled in price last month,...."

How does he/she knows it is "doubled"? Someone bought a house in August in X and sold in September in 2X?
