Some friends of ours live in a nice little residential neighborhood (not a traditional subdivision -- the houses actually look different), and at least 20% of the houses are on the market. Many of them have tall weeds and over grown bushes out front, so they've probably been empty for months. I see similar things in Milpitas. San Jose in particular has gotten pretty bad as of late. Just drive anywhere in bay area on Sunday morning, you will notice that sidewalk in every intersection is clogged with "open home" signs.
