Someone drive by and see if the house is still standing. If so add another $50K for proper earthquake retrofitting. If not, add another $100K to remove the toxic waste left behind on this superfund site.

I mean Goddamn, we lived in houses that old when I was a kid, moved plantation houses set up on lots and rented to Welfare people like us ……. but we weren’t stupid enough to BUY one of the POS things, and so what if it was a 2/1 with cabinets full of cockroaches? It was windward Hawaii and we were on WELFARE……. and those old 1930s glass-window’d cabinets looked one hell of a lot better than that Wal-Finishing this POS has been subjected to.

I like how the artist express the emptiness of the hearts of locked out home buyers with the empty scattered glassware and pans across the counter tops. The subtle use of the high mounted cabinets to show how just out of reach the American dream can be. And should they open those doors- cockroaches.

I think something is missing in the composition. The artist did a fair job of communicating the dishevelment, but the piece is symmetrically unbalanced. I believe this could be remedied by the addition of more refrigerator magnets. This would bring the left side of the piece into harmony with the right.

I do love the use of light however. The small rectangular window in the center of the piece hints of an escape. I believe it symbolizes the current owner’s hope of escape from the home’s oppressive mortgage.

Overall, not a bad first piece.

I like the way that the microwave is bolted to the cabinets with its little rubber feet dangling in the air…

Also, I like the ad copy: “Permits?” …sure, why not? Permits are always good!

There was another (San Joses’ 25 this year – Remember San Jose one of the safest big cities…) murder on Monday night in that neck of the woods. Maybe it really was a suicide and the owner of this hovel decided it just wasn’t worth it anymore. Great parenting here, super clean throughout and nice kitchen plus all those other amenities like the metal fence and gate. Wow, I surprise myself, I should be a REALTOR!
