Yeah, sure, I'd move in for $500 a month..... because I'm fairly certain I can make enough to afford that by drawing people at farmers' markets and Alice's Restaurant and so on.

But if I bought it the mortgage would have to be $400.

Look, this place is so old that is was built before the automobile was in general use. No garage, improvised driveway, probably in a picture-postcard beautiful safe neighborhood 85-90 yrs ago. Now, just another insanely overpriced shitbox in shithole San Jose. This place should be plowed under for fill.

Would you move into this dump?

That whole area is suburban hell at its worst though - everyone RACES off to work RACES home, and never talks to their neighbor. Traffic is high-speed, and every kid is a target except your own little darlings of course.

There is so much of this, just endless sprawl, that I can't imagine it being worth much of anything in a real market correction. In a few years, you might rent that house for $500 a month, and then only if you have one of the few jobs left in the area, in the grimly struggling offices of Ebay or something.

That place is a dump.

This insanity has certainly helped some of the previous poor to rocket the prosperity, I've never imagined buying a house in these kind of places, let alone for that much money.

Any guess how long before this sliding house go into BK?

You're thinking of 17, actually, but 87 is just as busy because it's a major connection from south San Jose to downtown and the airport. It's also close to the Tamien Caltrain station, and the busy 25 bus runs on this street from 5 am until after midnight. Good for a business, not so much for a home.

As for the former realty office part.. instant classic. I almost fell over laughing.

Endless Suburbia describes this area best, with the 880 freeway disguised under a different name roaring by.

Everyone loves cars! Zoom! Zoom!
