Adorable home with lots of charm and light. Very sunny, private backyard, nice sized bedrooms, hardwood floors, fireplace, newer applicances, nice bathroom. very good condition, great value. cozy home for the Holidays! Please be courteous and call first.

So far so good… after all, it’s just a $6xx per square foot house on a major road, and near a rail road tracks that may be one day be reactivated.

But wait, Burbeed reader Jeff had this to say:

Great blog. I came across this Menlo Park listing (below $700k and on the “good” side of 101, almost reasonable) Check out the 5th picture when you click view all photos, do you think the child is included? It always makes me wonder what the agent was thinking when they took the photo…

Pst Jeff, while this is on the “good” side of 101, it’s on the “bad” side of El Camino. That aside, let’s take a look at the included photos:

Indeed! What exactly is the Realtor trying to sell here? Hmmmmmmm…..

I’d be comfortable with the location. Atherton is right across the street, and the listing states your kids will attend Menlo-Atherton High. But listening to all the chicanos on the way to the Dumbarton Bridge to get to their industrial jobs in Fremont would be a drag.

Disgusting back yard. Looks like something out of a third world country.

  3. Renter Says:

Possibly it is short-sell. The owner was not cooperated with the photographer. The owner could just stop making payment, and live there for free for as long as possible until someone buy the home or the bank takes back the home.

  4. Pralay Says:

When it says “please be courteous and call first”, it is a short sale.

  5. JayDawg Says:

No way would I buy a kid. THE HOA fees on those things are outrageous.

  6. TenSpeedSF Says:

What? Under $700k for a house?! Menlo Park is apparently NOT in the Bay Area. Malcolm, my dear, you lack vision. That’s a terrific backyard… for laying down the foundation for an add-on. ;-)

  7. Norcalboomer Says:

The kid is there for the ” sympathy vote”. Oh please, please, please buy this house before we lose it in foreclosure and wind up ” homeless”. Look at my poor child, please BUY THIS HOUSE NOW!!!

  8. Pralay Says:

    >> “The kid is there for the ” sympathy vote”.”

Is it like those days when buyer had to attach letter with offer - “please accept my offer so that my children can go to a school”?

Here is a good buy for RealEstater.

    Equities already built in!

Or, maybe this is not the real MP he’s talking about?

    I am confused.

  10. Renter4 Says:

If it’s the block I’m thinking of, Atherton IS right across the road… behind a high brick wall. And there’s no sidewalk, and the traffic zooms by on Marsh at 45 or faster.

  11. ex-sunnyvale-renter Says:

Renter4 - Well, so what? You don’t think anyone WALKS anywhere in the BA do you? They travel by high-end Volvo or an SUV that’s taller than their neighbor’s.

  12. Renter4 Says:

But us Asian techies like the idea of our kids walking to the high-scoring school… I hope those kids’ parents are renters. It’s one of my biggest fears, the thought of overextending ourselves financially and not being able to provide a stable situation for the kids.
