Robin’s Egg Blue, or Kool-Aid Purple.

I’m guessing Kool-Aid purple would be better, after all it can attract the youth. Also, I’m a bit surprised that the add didn’t call out the giant apartment complex next door - just think about how much the shadow will reduce your cooling costs. And the metal gate on the door? Uh… that’ll keep your house cool too because you can leave the front door open.

You do want to live green don’t you?

I noticed while living there that EVERY dwelling in Redwood City has a screen on the front door, even if it’s an apartment. Is there some local ordinance requiring it?

  2. Barbara Says:

I’ve noticed that every one of these small cottage-type houses has an ENORMOUS apartment building next to it.

I think it is security screen. Plain simple chain door fastener may not be good enough for high crime area.

  4. Renter Says:

Great deal! It is back to the price level of year 2000. The buyer in 2005 had 100% financing.

1/3/2005 $628,000 Grant Deed Resale Rios, Jose Sr De La Pena, Octavio 109613872
5/7/2002 Grant Deed Resale Rios, Norman H Rios, Jose 255177461
5/7/2002 $422,500 Grant Deed Resale Trinh, Quang M Rios, Jose 255176904
4/4/2000 Grant Deed Resale Trinh, Kornpavee Trinh, Quang M 255179962

  5. Ex-Sunnyvale-Renter Says:

Older houses were designed before A/C and what you did was, open a window in the back or side, and open the front door, leaving the screen door closed. Primitive, huh?

But I say Bah! I won’t buy in the BA until they offer me a house painted like the bus in The Partridge Family.

  6. the problemwitcharing Says:

    @renter:
I can’t believe this house even went for that in 2000! Do you have any info on what it sold for before that?

  7. madhaus Says:

Renter, are you getting those loan doc info statements from propertyshark or somewhere else?

x-svl, what a great idea. Guess this one is too tame for ya, eh?

Pralay this is not a high crime area. The only crime is that someone bought this house for $628K and that a bank gave him 100% financing. That’s a (cough cough) $240K haircut to the widows and orphans in Iceland.

  8. Pralay Says:

The buyer in 2005 had 100% financing.

And I am sure his first loan with variable rate is resetting soon (or already did).

  9. madhaus Says:

I looked up the blue house on redfin. The burbed article was in 12/06, the house was sold twice in 2007. The first price was one of those odd numbers that someone mentioned means it was a bank takeover:

    Sales History
    Date Price Appreciation

    Dec 26, 2001 $425,000 –
    May 05, 2005 $680,000 15.0%/yr
    May 24, 2007 $591,633 -6.6%/yr
    Sep 10, 2007 $595,000 1.9%/yr

remember in 12/06 they were asking $639K. What do you think the knifecatchers would pay for it today?

  10. Renter Says:

    madhaus,

    Yes, I used propertyshark.

  11. Aaron Says:

You know burbed, I worship this site, thanks so much for it. But is there a way you could have a button that allows us to read the comments section but with all comments by RealEstater and Pralay removed?

It’s not that their ‘banter’ isn’t interesting, but it always goes straight off-topic and I just end up wading through it to see anyone else discuss the postings.

Your comments sections are just their little sparring ground, and I want to put them somewhere else. I guess they’d just use other names and come back.

Say, Pralay & RealEstater, how about you both take a 1 week “cease-fire”. No posting until May 1st, what do you think? (I’ll take silence as consent :-)

How about YOU not being silent? The problem with people like you is that you liked to be entertained but start whining when something you don’t like. Well, you freedom to post whatever you like, as long as Burbed (the host) finds it okay. But interestingly you don’t do it. And you also have freedom to ignore any posts (and not reading them). But interestingly you don’t do it either.

“How about YOU not being silent? The problem with people like you is that you liked to be entertained but start whining when something you don’t like.”

Hahahhah. Written without a hint of irony.

People complaining when they don’t like something! On the internet!!! How dare they. lol

  14. RenterBob Says:

I haven’t been here that long, but I see one guy here who is always trash talking. I agree with the other posters that Mr. Pralay should voluntarily leave if he doesn’t want to discuss real estate. I haven’t seen much of the other guy (Real Estater?), but from what I’ve seen nobody else here makes angry remarks. This is supposed to be fun here, isn’t it?

  15. Pralay Says:

People complaining when they don’t like something! On the internet!!! How dare they.
    —————-

Of course, what is the point of complaining about something which is not shoved upon you? It’s not telemarketer ringing your phone constantly at your dinner time. You can always ignore comments. I can complain about 100 things about other Burbed visitors (probably including you). But I don’t see any point for that.

  16. madhaus Says:

    RenterBob and Aaron:

My take on it is that RE says a lot of things which, might appear genial, but in context are provocative, even mean, and Pralay reacts the quickest, the most often, and usually in the strongest language. P also posts 4-5 times in a row in the same topic, which makes all these arguments snowball more.

I agree that an “ignore this poster” option would make for a much more enjoyable site.

    Pralay and RE:

In order for me to NOT click that option on you:

Pralay - combine your comments into one post at a time (per topic thread), stop feeding the troll, and stop reacting to the troll. While I agree with you, I still shudder each time you lose your cool.

RE - stop being the troll. Your little game of making claims you can’t support while demanding endless cites from others is tiresome. You’re usually not amusing and you’re rarely informative.

Both of you: stick to the properties under discussion like Aaron mentioned above.

This has been a public service message from the land of million dollar shacks.

  17. Pralay Says:

    This one is funny one.

Yes, we should discuss about real estate. We are not doing it for quite long time. Let RenterBob start the discussion. Guys, ready?

    ——–

    Yes sir! :)
Regarding multiple comments, I think that’s just a my habit which was developed in other forums to quote specific line/comment I am trying to address/respond.

  19. Pralay Says:

Both of you: stick to the properties under discussion like Aaron mentioned above.
    ————–

    BTW Madhaus,
I don’t see much off-topic comment in this specific thread, until post #11 posted. :)

There are many ways to complain, including emailing to Burbed.

  20. madhaus Says:

Pralay: This thread’s a day old already, so yeah, it’s been hijacked. Not by me. I would assume Aaron made the comment not just to complain to burbed but to see if anyone else agreed, and it appears that is the case.

You don’t have to do what I suggest, though. It’s a free country and you can keep watering the lawns on each quote in separate posts if you wish. Your neighbors can then put up eight foot privacy fences to keep you off their lawns.

Multiple replies in the same topic makes little sense without threading, so it’s just taking up more space. And we all know they aren’t making any more space.

  21. Pralay Says:

And we all know they aren’t making any more space.
    ————–

Exactly. That’s why I need to grab as much space as available so that I don’t get Priced Out Forever.

  22. Real Estater Says:

    Pralay,

I think generally you need to learn to be more receptive to criticisms, and more tolerant of different opinions.

    Madhaus,

As another reader pointed out, the term “trolling” involves irrelevant, off-topic, or time wasting stuff. That description fits Pralay perfectly, and you’re a close second. Stop making baseless accusations. You have the same problem as Pralay in that you cannot accept a different point of view even though that position is shown to have more validity than your own opinion.

  23. Real Estater Says:

As an example of the mis-information provided by the two trolls here, here’s the latest sales info from Palo Alto 94301:

    http://isvr.net/usr/1000139178/CustomPages/pa_94301_mcr.htm

Homes are on the average selling at 104% of asking. Average price per square foot is a whopping $1138. The trolls were claiming the median for this zip is $1.1M. Take a look for yourself and see who is way off.
