Does this look familiar? It should! This was on Burbed just a few months ago:
The Best Deal in Mountain View has just gotten even better. Frankly, I’m not sure what people are waiting for.
This house has already had a few open houses - has anyone had a chance to go yet? What’s it like? Inquiring minds want to know!
UPDATE: Forgot to talk about the instant equity angle. The current seller paid $650,000 for this in 2006. That means you get $50k in instant equity! Just like how the previous seller got $375k in instant equity when he paid $275,000 in 1999!

Once the 600k is paid it doesn’t stop there. I haven’t seen the house but I’m sure it’s probably not fit for habitation, at least not for those of us who seek to live in the RBA.

I doubt the person who buys this will actually keep the house. Probably some huge monstrosity would be plunked down there instead.
I was watching Modern Marvels on the History channel last night ( I know- old man TV) Anyhow, the show was about private jets and the person at the beginning was a dot-com guy who had sold a company for 5 Billion dollars and had then bought two private jets.
Long story short, I was thinking about what I’d do if I had that kind of money. I’d buy a lot like this one and park a used double-wide trailer on it, that’s what. I’d put signs out front that said things like ” Honk because Jesus Loves you!” or BEWARE of the dog. I’d also make sure that all the beer I drank was properly discarded in the front yard in an ever-growing pile.
Of course I’d have some decent place elsewhere- say in Asheville,NC. But I’d just love to see what would happen if I had a trailer in the middle of Mountain view. I’d RUIN their property values!

I don’t know. Mt. View already has a couple of trailer parks and the million dollar houses across the street seem to be doing ok. Maybe you should try putting your trailer in Palo Alto or Los Altos?

Just wait for gasoline prices to catch up to all the fools who overpaid–this crap and the rest of it will tank quickly, and your McMansion won’t save you. I’m betting that the gas tank will win at any cost until there’s no money left for the mortgage (and you can throw in the soaring cost of food too). Oh, yea, and when the job losses mount because nobody can afford to eat or drive to work and people stop lapping up the stupid gadgets and toys and “services” that Silicon Valley insists that everyone needs to lead a happy and healthy life (just look at the idiots who buy into the iPod nonsense, and WAIT IN LINE TO DO SO then bitch when the price falls soon thereafter, and get suckered all over again when the new version comes out a few months later!). Your house won’t save you when the riots begin. Happy house hunting!

I always liked the idea of buying a Section 8 apartment complex on University Avenue in East Palo Alto, tearing it down and building an enormous estate in its place.

I always liked the idea of buying a Section 8 apartment complex on University Avenue in East Palo Alto, tearing it down and building an enormous estate in its place.
And filling it full of Section 8ers. They’ll leave the beer cans on the front lawn for you.
