Like a true Silicon Valley entrepreneur, the next owner of this house will have no problems easily pulling in over $100k per year running a day care. Just thing, you can have your cake, eat it too, and then write it off! It’s a Win-Win-Win if you ask me!

At night, I dream not of sugar plum fairies, but opportunities to monetize my residence. Talk about House 3.0!

Better buy this house and get an MBA, because you’ll need another degree to manage this incredible moneymaker.

Cha CHING!

12 kids earning over 100k per year? Holy smokes! That would be like 1.2 million dollars for the whole household!

  2. nomadic Says:

    “Permitted for 12 kids”

Hell, I’ve been saying FOR YEARS, people should be required to pass a test before being allowed to breed. Campbell is leading edge.

  3. bob Says:

There’s a TINY little house that does daycare a few blocks from where I live. The thing is that it is right next to one of the busiest streets in Alameda. I think the people who bought it paid almost 700k for the home 2 years ago.

  4. DensityDuck Says:

Permitted for 12 kids, actually “minding” 20, don’t worry because we’ve only ever had three or four inadvertent asphixyations in our time of operation!

  5. nomadic Says:

Hey bob, that just means convenient access for the home-debtors to drop off their precious bundles of DNA as they rush off to work!

(They have a tall fence, don’t they?)

  6. bob Says:

    LOL!

  7. JayDawg Says:

Bring in an RV and rent that out to pay down the home equity loan….

  8. Roxboy Says:

Actually only in SJose or Richmond that i see people run businesses inside their home or garage. I’m assuming it’s not illegal since they have neon signs and decorate just like any business would.
Have you ever noticed when you drive by a nice neighborhood and there are like 5-6 cars parked in front of each house and street parking is always full? I wonder if their relatives cousins or the entire family tree lives there in one house?

  9. DreamT Says:

Roxboy, take King Road exit on 280 and drive East. You’ll see that for miles every other house was converted to a business. The funny part is there are barely any parking spaces anywhere.

  10. DreamT Says:

Hadn’t realized you wrote “SJose”. For some reason it read “Slone” in my mailbox. Gotta change font.

LOL! Wondering if those kids are all getting paid big bucks to beta test all those new video games.

This house was purchased with a $399K first (variable) and a $75K second (fixed) for $499K in 2003. It was only $429K in 2000, and yet 2 years earlier it went for $305K.

So do you really think this house is worth $699K? Seems a mite high for Campbell, given the 2003 prices. Campbell isn’t Story & King, but it isn’t Palo Alto either.

Also this looks like it is near, if not necessarily on, a Superfund site.

  12. rick Says:

Hey Campbell is not close to Palo Alto, but it is close to Willow Glen, so think about Mountain View of the south.

  13. San Mateo Home Sellers in Trouble Says:

When I first read that title I thought it was some kind of sweatshop hiring kids. My mom’s neighbor built a daycare and the whole neighborhood hates hates that woman. Those kids are very annoying.

  14. WillowGlenner Says:

At 699K, this house seems like it is priced at peak bubble pricing.

What does it mean by “Previous” owner? Is he/she dead? Or ran away after getting the kidnap-ransom of 12 kids? Or the “Silicon Valley entrepreneur” decided to give up “great opportunity for Day Care/Pre-School” for no reason?

  16. Pralay Says:

Oh, I forgot, you do need dual pane window when 12 gremlins are running around in backyard.

  17. DensityDuck Says:

madhaus: Actually, they’re doing spam postings. You can generate a surprising amount if you do it for eight hours a day. Captcha only works to stop automated bots…

Sorry, DD, I have no idea what this is in reference to. My only comment on this thread is actually about the house, for once. Who is doing spam postings and why am I concerned about it?

  19. cardinal2007 Says:

It’s the kids, they can add one and zero. They use their elementary arithmetic skills to spam the world.

You should be concerned, because the Cialis or the 2% mortgage they’re selling doesn’t exist, they are just phishing for information.

  20. madhaus Says:

thanks cardinal2007, sometimes my brain just doesn’t function properly. Now I get the reply. Doesn’t help that I try to combine 4-7 different themes in every post of mine.

    Except this one.

You know there are three kinds of people, those that can count in binary and those who can’t.

  21. Jabby Says:

Did anyone notice “Nice yard with automatic sprinklers and drip system.” How wonderful Why didn’t they mention the fence? Or the existence of a driveway! Front door included?

By my calculations, the automatic drip system has increased the value of the home at least $88,888. And I would know - I watch extreme home makeover!
