Absolutely Foster City Blog

Blog Roll | Absolutely Foster City Blog
Just in case you didn’t notice I’ve added a list of other blogs on the left hand margin. The top half are blogs from around this area and, obviously, have a very local focus. Of these, I can’t tell you how crazy I am about Burbed , it’s absolutely hilarious and my goal as a real estate agent is to NEVER have one of my listings profiled there! Think of it as “The Onion” of local real estate.

That’s a pretty good goal!

Thanks for the call out!

    Jim,

You’re halfway there — you got a mention on Burbed, just not one of your listings…keep your fingers crossed!

  2. nomadic Says:

“The Onion” except with one very frightening difference: what you post here is absolutely true. You couldn’t make this stuff up! (Well, you could but then it wouldn’t be such fun to pick on!)

  3. RinkRat Says:

Nomadic…you were right the first time. I don’t think anyone could make up some of the horror stories that I’ve seen on Burbed. That’s what makes it so amazing!

  4. anon Says:

(sarcasm) I fail to see what’s so amazing about it. It’s a small price to pay to live in the bay area. The problem isn’t over valued homes – it’s a sense of entitlement. Only households with income over $150,000 should be able to buy a livable home. (/sarcasm)

Am I the only one who thinks it would be funny to mail a copy of the blog posting and the comments to the home’s address as well as the listing agent’s address?

  5. sonarrat Says:

anon: that borders on slander. :D

  6. RealEstater Says:

    >>Only households with income over $150,000 should be able to buy a livable home.

A family of two experienced teachers should be able to make that figure. In any case, let’s check the math. Borrowing $500K works out to approximately $3000/month at 6% interest rate. That’s only $36K a year. A $100K income can easily support that.

  7. burbed Says:

    Please don’t do that.

I’ve already gotten some nasty e-mails, and I really don’t need any further. Nor do I need e-mails from lawyers.

    Again, please don’t do that.

    Thanks.

  8. RealEstater Says:

    Yes, anon, don’t be stupid.

  9. nomadic Says:

burbed, we certainly wouldn’t want to lose our source of entertainment! I always feel a little guilty posting because I would be absolutely MORTIFIED if my house was ever on here.

    “a family two experienced teachers”
RealEstater, you’re not helping your case here. At this pace you really won’t avoid these inbreeding jokes.

  11. RealEstater Says:

    DreamT,

If you’re going to criticize, pick something meaningful, and say something useful. You’re losing momentum here.

  12. DreamT Says:

RealEstater – I’m married to a teacher. Meaningful enough for you? :) Your assumptions can be bewildering.

  13. RealEstater Says:

    DreamT,

Give me a break. Only the teacher is working now, and you guys can still afford your house in CUSD just fine.

  14. DreamT Says:

RealEstater – Well it was just a jab, a knee-jerk reaction every time I see someone automatically assuming (if unconsciously) that professions mainly marry within.
No, teacher’s on full-time baby raising. Another wrong assumption.

  15. RealEstater Says:

    DreamT,

I think you mis-understood. My point was that even if both working members of the family are in the teaching profession, which is not known for high pay, they can still buy a home. I was not assuming anything. Just giving an example.

    >No, teacher’s on full-time baby raising.
You mean she’s on paid leave, or she retired from her job completely?

  16. DreamT Says:

Your point was understood, while the choice of the supporting example was worthy of note. In any case I agree with fellow posters who state that it is unwise to assume two incomes when buying a home. I won’t go into personal financial details to satisfy your curiosity, I’ll just say we didn’t make this assumptiom.

  17. Herve Says:

    > sense of entitlement

    Does anyone remember RenterBob?

  18. anon Says:

    “Please don’t do that.

Alright, alright. You have my word that I will not do that. How about a couple re-posts of the emails you receive? ;)

RE said: “Yes, anon, don’t be stupid.”
Re, would you care to explain to me why this is a stupid idea? Obnoxious, Maybe. Un-called for? Maybe. Hilarious? Certainly. But…stupid? Please explain why you believe this to be a “stupid” idea.

Sonarat: Don’t worry, its not slander. Slander involves public statements about a person.

  19. Herve Says:

    > Yes, anon, don’t be stupid.

    anon was right.
