Desirable location in Fremont close to BART. Backyard w/ deck, quiet neighborhood, wide driveway, renovated Kitchen w/ Stainless Steell appliances. Must see to appreciate!THIS IS NOT A SHORT SALE OR REO. .. Original owner.

Burbed reader CB thought this was an important find. Here’s what CB had to say:

It’s listed at 140K above it’s zestimate and and you’ll have to pay about 100 more per sq ft for the 94536 to live in this one.   But who knows.  The house is fit for the Mona Lisa, it may be fit for someone as special as me!

The cat guarding the “original owner’s” valued Betty Boop collection is also a nice touch.  50x scale posters of drinks is always a plus. This listing makes a good argument for keeping the camera on the curb.

Indeed, the ZEstimate is just $524,500. But as we know, ZEstimates tend to undervalue Bay Area (even non-RBA) properties because they don’t have a model to account for specialness.

That said, let’s take a look at the interior!

Yep. That’s the Mona Lisa alright. And check out the Roman-esque bust! And the Christmas tree! Wow. What a cornucopia of Classic Art. Stunning!

And to complete the museum, lots of modern art.

Frankly, if they’re not charging admission to go see this house, they are truly missing out!

Should Burbed have a Bay Areal Real Estate magazine?

Wow. Thanks to Burbed reader Herve for this amazing piece of creativity. Too bad Burbed is Internet only (Web 3.0 and all that) but if there were ever a magazine spinoff, it would definitely cover topics like these!

Shea Homes – Mondrian – Presence of TCE worries homebuyers

Mountain View Voice : Presence of TCE worries homebuyers
The level of toxics in the groundwater under a new Shea Homes development is low, by northeastern Mountain View standards. But at least one local couple has backed out of a purchase nonetheless, citing particular concern over TCE there.

The 150-unit row home development known as “Mondrian” at 505 E. Evelyn Ave. is currently under construction. Its three-bedroom homes are priced at around $600,000, and appeared to be a good deal to the Zimmermans, a young newlywed couple.

“Well-priced three-bedroom homes in Mountain View are hard to find,” Elaine Zimmerman wrote in an e-mail.

The Zimmermans put down a deposit and were given a week to look through a 150-page binder full of information, fill out forms and gather the necessary records. At the last minute, they found a page in the binder mentioning the toxin known as trichloroethylene, or TCE. After some Google searching, the couple found a Web site describing TCE as highly carcinogenic, and decided the low-priced home wasn’t worth the worry.

Personally, my favorite part of this article is this:

is low, by northeastern Mountain View standards

It doesn’t matter what it is by standards found in the rest of the nation. In a place so precious, so special, like the Real Bay Area – it’s low. And that’s all that matters really.

Come see this beautiful custom home with 180 degree panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay Area. Comes with completed plans for custom executive home with all the amenities. Fantastic!

Thanks to Burbed reader Herve for this find!

Wow… 70% completed huh? Any contractor types that could provide an estimate on how much more it would cost to finish this house out?

That said, this is totally worth it at $1.3M. Everyone in the Bay Area loves freedom and liberty, and that’s what this house offers you – the freedom to finish it however you wanted. It’s like buying one of those tables at Ikea that’s not stained yet – more freedom for you.

Come on executives – what are you waiting for?

How are property taxes collected in the Bay Area?

Mummified Body Found in Bay Area Home | NBC Bay Area

Investigators are looking into the financial history of a  woman whose decomposed body was found inside a Piedmont home Tuesday evening,  a police captain said.
Watch Video

Police are interviewing a “person of interest” after an elderly woman’s decomposed body was found inside a Piedmont home Tuesday evening,

Officers found the woman’s body in the entryway of a home in the  200 block of Highland Avenue after a family member who lives nearby requested  a welfare check around 5:15 p.m., Piedmont police Capt. John Hunt said.

Hunt said property records list the homeowner as 86-year-old  Patricia Bostrom, but that the Alameda County coroner’s bureau is still  working to confirm the deceased woman’s identity through dental records.

The woman’s property taxes had not been paid since December 2003, Hunt said.

Wait a sec… these taxes haven’t been collected since December 2003, and no one investigated?

Just how are property taxes collected here in the Bay Area?

An anonymous Burbed reader wants to know!

Beautiful open concept kitchen w/stainless steel appliance; decorative tile craftmanship; newer bathroom; original hardwood floor, cozy and delightful lot, storage galore, new roof, fence and exterior paint. Walk into the home through its stamped concrete walkway, inviting porch & move your stuff in!

Burbed reader A.L. had this to say:

First – cheers for the excellent site, always a great read. I thought I should send you a tip about 1264 Latham in Mountain View. Haven’t seen it in person but, come on, a SFH which doesn’t look like a dump and is in a rather good location for 500K should be an interesting opportunity for someone, no? (I know, I know, it’s 728 sqf and the lack of pics of the bedrooms is bothersome, but still…). Not exactly what I’m looking for, but it would be nice to see some SFH transactions at a price I could actually afford.

Hey A.L., thanks for reading Burbed. Actually you have uncovered an amazing deal in the most colorful, the most vibrant, and the most lively neighborhood in Mountain View.

Why do I say that?

Well, let’s look back to June 23, 2008 on Burbed:

But wait… it was also on Burbed in December 2007!

Apparently, this house is still ready to move in! And at this new lower price, it’s the best deal ever. To think that you’re complaining about its $686 per square foot! Just think, it used to be $1098 per square foot!

Pssst… here’s a secret though. That old price? That’s the true value. Can you say, instant equity? Buy it today!
