Swine flu. How will it impact the housing market in the Real Bay Area?
Will it cause prices to soar, or prices to hold steady?
In favor of soaring prices:
1. The Real Bay Area is special. Living there will increase your immune system. Therefore, it will become more desirable.
2. The Real Bay Area is further away from Mexico.
3. The Real Bay Area is full of rich people, which means that people can afford great healthcare coverage, N99 masks, etc. Thus, you will not be likely to be around sick people.
In favor of prices holding steady:
None.

I love how the option to vote for prices to drop is not on the list. Burbed is so great.
That reminds me of a Simpson’s episode which I’ll paraphrase from:
“You can’t vote for a third party candidate – you’ll be THROWING YOUR VOTE AWAY!”

The only way the flu can make RBA prices drop is if everyone there fires their house cleaners (because most visit their families in Mexico), and THEN the houses look dirty when the realtors come to show them.

1. RBA kids are “widely traveled” anyway. That means they already have antibodies against this flu.

CB: nomadic was being stereotypical, not racist. Racism involves a sense of superiority, discrimination, hatred or intolerance, and there must also be a racial context. So not only #3 was not fair at all, it was actually offensive

swine flu will probably decrease open house traffic, but on the other hand your chances of survival are greater in a SFR than in a busy apartment building…

I don’t want to derail the thread anymore, but thanks for the help DreamT. I wasn’t sure if stereotypes = racist in our ultra-PC world now. I could’ve said I’m Mexican but it didn’t occur to me since I’m a terrible liar.
The point of the post was to poke fun by supplying a silly scenario where RBA prices could drop. (gasp!)
I like the scenario of taking refuge in a SFH in #8! GO RBA! Buy now or be infected forever! LOL.
