Thanks to Burbed reader Herve for this find. It’s Herve week!

Let’s face it, the economy is still a bit shakey and not everything is on the up and up. Facebook still hasn’t IPOed yet, unleashing a new wave of millionaires.

When times get tough, real estate definitely steps up to help those in need. That’s where this house comes in. Can’t afford a whole house in San Carlos? Why not buy half a house for now!

That’s right! Buy half a house now, save up, build some amazing equity, get some pride of ownership going on, and then boom buy the other half in 2 years.

Hey, let’s not forget that this half even comes with crown molding – classsssssy!

So join San Carlos – buy half a house today. Just throw up some mirrors or something, no one will notice when you invite them over. Trust me!

The house has lots of potential, potential to be knocked down. Hey, at least you can “Buy with Redfin and save: $6,875*” That’s extra money cash that can be used to by housing supplies such as vinyl siding, plywood, particle board, pergo floors and granite from the Home Depot to rebuild your palace.

Looks like even half houses have escaped the bubble. If I can’t afford even a half house in the RBA, then my dream of ever owning 3/4 contractor’s special special house has been shot.

Half a house at $598/sf? They’re on drugs. Sure, it’s $100k less than the suckers owners paid, but who wants to buy partial construction that’s been sitting for god-knows-how-long?

Interesting (and satisfying) to see that it doesn’t appear to be a short sale.

  4. nomadic Says:

oh, I left out a couple of points – it’s on a tiny lot on a major street (Alameda de las Pulgas).

  5. AmusedLurker Says:

Kind of gives new meaning to the term “Detached Single Family” as it also appears to be at least partially detached from the planet Earth.

5 comments?!? Come on guys, I find bob’s trailer for sale and all I get is 5 comments? WTF?

Apparently sold on Feb 10, 2010 for $495,000 — developed and resold on Jul 27, 2010 for $905,000
