where will my child go to school cupertino school district

It’s search engine Thursday!

Recently someone found this site by searching for: where will my child go to school cupertino school district

As a bonus, someone also found this site by searching for: kennedy middle cupertino too much homework

Again, these questions can be interpreted in multiple ways. Here’s how I interpreted them: “Where will my child go to school in the Cupertino school district?” and “How can I make sure my child gets too much homework at Kennedy Middle School in Cupertino?”

Now, I could cheat and just paste snippets from the WSJ article on white flight from Cupertino:

CUPERTINO, Calif. — By most measures, Monta Vista High here and Lynbrook High, in nearby San Jose, are among the nation’s top public high schools. Both boast stellar test scores, an array of advanced-placement classes and a track record of sending graduates from the affluent suburbs of Silicon Valley to prestigious colleges.

But locally, they’re also known for something else: white flight. Over the past 10 years, the proportion of white students at Lynbrook has fallen by nearly half, to 25% of the student body. At Monta Vista, white students make up less than one-third of the population, down from 45% — this in a town that’s half white. Some white Cupertino parents are instead sending their children to private schools or moving them to other, whiter public schools. More commonly, young white families in Silicon Valley say they are avoiding Cupertino altogether.

White students are far outnumbered by Asians at Monta Vista High School in Cupertino, Calif.

Whites aren’t quitting the schools because the schools are failing academically. Quite the contrary: Many white parents say they’re leaving because the schools are too academically driven and too narrowly invested in subjects such as math and science at the expense of liberal arts and extracurriculars like sports and other personal interests.

The two schools, put another way that parents rarely articulate so bluntly, are too Asian.

Ni hao!

Unfortunately, without knowing where the person who searched for the “where” question lives, an accurate answer cannot be provided. That said, if your house is below $600 per square foot the answer is probably “NONE”.

As for the second question, don’t worry…. it’ll happen automatically. Your child will be fine. He’ll simply be slaving away until 3am every night on homework so he/she can get rejected from Stanford/Harvard/MIT because all his classmates are slaving away until 5am every night, while someone who takes half as many AP courses in Idaho gets in because no one in his school even thought about applying.

But that’s ok. It’s better to introduce your child to the futility of life earlier, so he’ll be prepared for life in Silicon Valley. Woot!

What happen to the Mexican and black students in Cupertino? if whites are complain about too academical driven, i wonder what would blacks say?

  2. Alex Says:

There are no blacks or Mexicans in Cupertino. Problem solved.

Foolish white people, don’t they know an art degree will not land you a high paying SV job and thus you will be priced out of RBA homes (which is the most important investment anyone can make).

b-b-but I thought everyone in the Bay Area claims that one of the best things about the area is its diversity. “white flight” is more of a east coast problem. Not here. Surely all the schools are just a big melting pot of students from every corner of the globe, just like I also assume all of those homes in Cupertino have a totally equalized mix of people from everywhere as well.

This article is like pink houses – it just keeps coming back again and again. It’s four years old…

Now is a Great Time for integration to come to Cupertino schools. Look what it did for Detroit…

A few daily busloads from East San jose should do the trick… Begin with the King & Story crowd. This would toughen up the little buggers in a hurry…

It would add so much to the culture of diversity…

Begin immediately. Kim Sue, meet Shawanda Sharpton….

  7. nomadic Says:

See, burbed? You’ve got the racists crawling out of the woodwork this morning.

BTW, calling Detroit integrated is quite a stretch. The late Mayor Coleman Young helped polarize race relations for decades. Wasn’t improved much when I left 8 years ago.

Don’t be so pessimistic Burbed. We all know that “Stanford still gives preferential treatment to Palo Alto students”. Pretty soon Cupertino will be included into this preference category. Idaho kid simply won’t have any chance in Stanford.

And who care about Harvard and MIT anyway?

  9. CB Says:

Asians congregate into a district and Whites congregate out. Which one of those migrations is racist?

Btw, thanks to guys like nomadic, that word doesn’t really mean anything anymore.

  10. meep Says:

a clash of cultures in china the coolest kid in school has the highest math score and wants to be an engineer

the white parents remember the coolest kid being the captain of the football or basketball team or the tough kid with the muscle car

  11. Pralay Says:

I disagree. It has nothing to do with “culture”. Rather it’s an outcome of economic conditions of two different countries. In China having good math score or being engineer is cool because that’s the only way a Chinese young guy can either get F1 visa to US or land on a stable job in China.

In the end of the day: It’s the economy, stupid!

  12. nomadic Says:

CB, thanks for letting me know it’s okay to say white people are smarter and/or more hard-working than black people. With that, I will refrain from any more race-related comments.

  13. Pralay Says:

white people are smarter and/or more hard-working than black people.
    ——

Neither of them are smarter. Smart people are those who buy overpriced home in RBA and avoid reality shows.

  14. anon Says:

Indeed the smartest people are the ones who pay good money for trash.

  15. bob Says:

I think stories like this sort of underline a kind of unspoken truth about Americans… ALL Americans. The only thing is that it would be better if those who claim they’re not bigoted to just admit that they don’t like such and such people versus clamoring to make everyone think they’re all for diversity.

  16. SmilingCat Says:

The best thing that can happen to your white kid is to not get into college. Instead, teach them metalsmithing, gardening, permaculture, chemistry, etc. think of your kid as the Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court. It comes down to Beans, Bullets, and Band-Aids in the coming fighting. Most ‘ni hao’ Cupertino residents are going to move back. Those who stay, well, this is why you are teaching your kid to be useful in a Revolution scenario. They: will know calculus; Your kid; will have bullet-drop tables memorized.

Pretty soon the Asian gangstas will be coming to a neighborhood near you.

  19. SmilingCat Says:

Yeah it’s me, I chose the name in honor of my fave member on another site.

It’s not the Asian gangstas, it’s the Asian bankstas…..
