Rare California Modern
www.12977cortezlane.comRare Mid-Century Custom Home by
Renown “California Modern” Architect Warren CallisterLos Altos, CA – October 30, 2009 – For some, Mid-Century architecture, or California Modern as it is sometimes called, represents an astonishing sensibility, a time when architects endeavored to design homes with open floor plans that blurred the lines between interior and exterior environments. They brought the outside inside.
A home created by Charles Warren Callister, one of that era’s greatest practitioners, is for sale in Los Altos Hills, California. One of just three homes designed by Callister on the Peninsula, this handcrafted house has been updated with drawings from Warren Callister himself. The owners have kept the home in pristine condition.
Thanks to Burbed reader Herve for this find.
The Bay Area is known for its innovation, and continual investment to doing things in a new and revolutionary way.
For example, it’s now mandatory that when your house goes on sale, you have to issue an IPO. And when you buy a house, it’s now called a “Strategic Acquisition”.

Wow. Asian Craftsman style… that’s uh. Very unique. Personally I don’t see a whole lot of Asian-ness in this house… but maybe that’s because I was expecting to see 888 in the price and some koi.
That said… while the pictures are a bit over photoshopped, I thought this one was kind of peculiar:
I get what the picture is trying to show (which btw, is actually really cool) but the colors are so… glum.
I suck at photoshop. Can someone help make this photo “pop”?

Wow. They must’ve used up quite a supply of sugar. I’ve never heard anyone sugarcoat a house that for all practical purposes is just a typical 60′s “Wally Beave” house. More amazing- the thing is sold!

It’s already SOLD for asking price

well bob, now you know what a “wally beave” house is worth in LAH – a nice $3M. it closed in under 1 month, so that’s an all cash sale. buyer may ultimately be arranging some financing, but it wasn’t a part of this transaction.

heh, SanMatean, the distant area looks like an industrial wasteland in your version. Like it should have nuclear cooling towers.

Spektackulurer indeed! Big enough to house you and the rest of your platoon from Iraq, hopefully it won’t be to hard to “harden”. Land there and around you for the taking to farm on once the depopulation gets underway, I’d call this a steal of a deal so knock off that Brinks truck and buyyyy it!

hey, “unreal smiling cat” – did you notice in the satellite picture that the neighbors already have a vineyard in the front yard? No civilization can thrive without wine, right?

Nomadic: you got it!

I also added Godzilla in the bay. I tried to find a good Cloverfield image, but alas, I failed…

After purchasing this $3M property you will be so poor you have to rely on public school for your kids’ education.
