Seller still waiting for lenders approval. Property needs TLC ( Repair)
Privacy is becoming an increasingly precious commodity these days. Fortunately, the owner has thought ahead for you, and has protected the image of this house from being shown so that when you become the owner, the paparazzi won’t be able to find you right away!
Or… may be this is one of those shy houses – the kind of house that shirks away when you try to take a photo it.
If this street view image is correct, there’s nothing to hide really:
Personally, I’m just glad it is clarified that this house needs the repairs kind of TLC – rather than, say, emotional support, counseling, or other sorts of tender, loving care. Good to know!

Weird, the street view image says “388 Rutland Ave, Burbank, CA“.
Anyway, can this really sell for $450K? It looks like it’s not on the market anymore. Problems with lender’s approval maybe?

I think the street view is correct in spite of the Burbank tag – the cross streets from there check out correctly.
The latest house in my neighborhood to go up for sale is in stealth mode too. They don’t have a sign up and have not had any open houses, but it’s on the MLS. I guess they don’t want the neighbors to know it’s for sale.

Does holding photos preserve a short seller’s anonymity in some strange way? I don’t get it?
February 17th, 2010 at 9:35 am
well, it IS in Burbank – which is unincorporated area of San Jose http://www.sanjose.com/underbelly/unbelly/Sanjose/Burbank/burbank.html

“Does holding photos preserve a short seller’s anonymity in some strange way? I don’t get it?”
Not really – but what it does do is add to the mystery and allure of owning property! It’s like the prize at the bottom of a cracker jack box; you never know what’s awaiting you until you get there!
I don’t know about all of you but I’m dying to see what the inside of the house looks like – in order to justify $521/sqft in _San Jose_.

“EAST PALO ALTO, Calif. – Fire officials in Northern California say three people have died after a small plane crashed into a house.”
Yikes!
February 17th, 2010 at 11:00 am
anon, that reminds me of the listings in the bubble heyday that would insist that buyers submit an offer on a property sight unseen – subject to “inspection” of course. That way the buyer could back out if the floor plan sucked (or whatever) but wasted as much time for others as possible while stroking the owner’s ego.

BAI – tragic for the victims, bonus for the property owner!
February 17th, 2010 at 1:33 pm
Is very tragic.
Just a follow-up to that article; apparently, those were Tesla employees in the plane.

those were Tesla employees in the plane

Are you sure it was an plane, not a car? I have feeling that they were testing “aircraft quality feel” feature in Tesla car, inspired from Porsche (Porsche commercial, to be precise).

moving right along…
Foreclosures spiked last month and they are taking longer:
http://www.mercurynews.com/search/ci_14413694?nclick_check=1
Despite efforts by the federal government and lenders to help people stay in their homes, foreclosures rose 37 percent in Santa Clara County last month from December, and 71 percent in San Mateo County, according to a report Tuesday from ForeclosureRadar.
-snip-
In Santa Clara County, for example, there were 4,850 homes scheduled for auction sale at the end of last month. But lenders completed only 437 foreclosures.
One year earlier, 1,728 were scheduled for auction. Lenders completed 457 foreclosures.
The Fed also announced that it doesn’t think unemployment levels will improve this year.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/02/17/AR2010021703271.html
Check out this idiotic closing statement:
A Fed policymaker also warned that the unemployment rate might be inflated, as more people choose stay in the labor pool despite being unable to find a job, after the government extended benefits several times.
Those damn unemployed losers – they just won’t drop out of the labor pool!

Did you miss the headline economic news, nomadic?
HP profit jumps 25 pct, company raises outlook
Revenue was up in most of the technology company’s major divisions and HP raised its 2010 outlook, citing “accelerating market momentum.”
“It’s better than expected,” said Jayson Noland, an analyst with Robert W. Baird & Co. “The hardware side of their business bounced back really nicely, especially the PC and server divisions.”

Look at the bright side. There will be some construction jobs, and at least 3 more openings at Tesla.

> well, it IS in Burbank – which is unincorporated area of San Jose
From the link you provided (but did not embed):
That is possibly why there are so many tattoo parlors, adult entertainment palaces, and baby furniture outlet centers.
February 17th, 2010 at 11:47 pm
yes, these are on Stevens Creek proper (which has become San Carlos by then) which is the very border of that unincorporated zone. Burbank itself consists of wide desolated streets and most houses are in various state of disrepair – so is the big Burbank sign on Bascom next to 280. Contrasts with neighboring Santana Row and Rose Garden. It’s like a forgotten area in the middle of the valley which nobody would ever have any reason to drive through. Kinda like Alviso.
February 17th, 2010 at 11:51 pm
> Kinda like Alviso.
Don’t badmouth Alviso. The smell is great and they have TiVo.
February 17th, 2010 at 11:56 pm
Kinda like Hunter’s Point then.
On second thought, nothing is as bad as a drive through Hunter’s Point.

What’s with the mention of baby furniture outlets? Are they too racy to put in the incorporated part of town?
February 18th, 2010 at 9:59 am
They’re not racy, but Babyland furniture takes a whole corner – it’s almost a landmark. The other baby furniture store is across San Carlos so it shouldn’t even qualify as being in the zone…
February 18th, 2010 at 12:16 pm
I’ve seen the place. Just wondered why they’d point it out along with the porn and tattoo parlors. Odd mix – maybe that’s the point.
February 18th, 2010 at 6:10 pm
That’s an awesome corner, 1 stop shop for exotic dancers and baby gear.
There was another great combo nearby, like Meridian and Parkmoor, just north of 280. The shopping center had Baby Super, Cycle Gear, and a Harley dealer. “Hey honey, let’s go baby furniture shopping… while we’re here let me look at these bikes and helmets!”
Unfortunately Baby Super has closed.
