Thanks to Burbed reader Herve for this find!

Have you ever dreamed about owning the Winchester Mystery House? Well, now’s your chance to buy the Winchester Mystery Condo!

Just look at those photos! How your friends will ooh and ahh as you recount to them the story of how a machine from the future came back to look for Sarah Winchester, and as a result built this condo in 1992. Or… uh… something like that.

Just think of all the money you’ll make from renting this house to Ghost Hunters on Syfy! See how the windows are alarmed? It’s alarmed for ghosts!

And those high-definition tvs that are remaining? Haunted.

Personally, I think kudos are deserved for the person who remodeled a 17 year old condo, considering how many Bay Area houses haven’t been touched since they were built.

Great buy. If you’re brave enough.

I wonder if the surrond sound in THX certified?

  2. Alex Says:

Comes with Monster cables. And Bose speakers.

WTF is going on with Cupertino? The riff-raffs are moving in!

One of the past sales data for this property is shown as:

Sep 19, 1994 Sold (Public Records) $22,000 -96.4%/yr Public Records

I have always wondered what this means.

Was this property foreclosed in Sep 1994?

Did someone really buy it for $22K or was it the bank that bought it back at this price to write it off?

Zak: nomadic will answer your questions.

    Two words, Alex: damn renters.

You think so, Herve? Oh, okay, I’m feeling agreeable. The $22k “sale” doesn’t appear to be a foreclosure. It transferred from the Vahdat party to the Badri party. Could have been an intra-family transfer or even a transaction where the title was modified. There was a “phantom” sale in my neighborhood recently for $300k that I’m pretty certain was the buyers taking a parent or grandparent off of the title.

The first thing I noticed on this listing, besides the bad pictures, was that it was purchased for $399k. Ouch. Then I looked through the details and found what I suspected: Agent Related to Seller

another “smart investment” by someone “in the know” no doubt.

Looks more like the gates of mordor to me. Let’s see… $380k for something that would rent for $1100. That’s 345 times rent.

Yep. Gates of mordor indeed. Hopefully the terminator (and i mean the one from the first movie) will come “save” us all.

Oh whoops! I forgot! How could I be so stupid?

    HOA Fees: $230

That makes it more like 436 times rent.

Great find, burbed. That is some hilarious pride of bagholdership.
