What a peculiar question!
The answer is: yes! plenty of people are giving away houses in the Bay Area.
Any time a house isn’t listed for at least $500 per square foot, or $800 per square foot in certain cities, it is being given away.
Here’s a house being given away in Mountain View – and its even pink!

Beds: 3 Baths: 3 Sq. Ft.: 1,576 $/Sq. Ft.: $504 Lot Size: 5,100 Sq. Ft. Property Type: Detached Single Family Style: Ranch Stories: 1 View: Neighborhood Year Built: 1954 Community: Thompson County: Santa Clara MLS#: 81010530 Source: MLSListings Status: Active On Redfin: 10 days Charming and open, almost new appliances, with permitted converted garage, this home is bigger than the ordinary Mardell Manor home, could be in-law quarters with separate entrance, full bathroom and large closet. Flooring is combination carpet and tiles, plenty of light. A small room off the living room makes a nice office. Nice open yard with sprinklers.
Now this is a steal. It’s got a permitted converted garage, it’s got sprinklers, it’s even got an air conditioner in the second photo!
So yes… very generous owners are giving away houses in the bay area. Just look around and you’ll see them, you greedy bastard.

Cupertino Below Market Rate (BMR) Housing Program
The City of Cupertino required that 15% of all new construction be affordable to households below 120% of the County median income. Rental units are affordable to very low and low-income households while ownership units are affordable to median and moderate-income households.
