May 7th, 2010 at 7:08 am
Well, the bedrooms may be “spacious” but they’re looking a little cramped in the master with both the bed and an enormous crib in there. Don’t the owners know that’s what the “bonus room” off the garage is a perfect nursery?
The aerial view of the neighbors to the left got me intrigued – and I wanted to figure out what the heck was next door. A look at the street view shows a similarly tiny house with an RV, van and dump truck out front and maybe dumpsters(?) in back.
Let’s have some guesses as to what is going on there. Here are some theories:
1) The owners rent out their driveway to neighboring businesses;
2) The owners are South African and it wouldn’t feel like home without a township in their back yard;
3) The “house” is actually a storage shed and they live in the RV;
4) Sanford and Son moved to Mountain View

And the property at back (on Rengstorff) is equally interesting.

Great news on mortgage rates.
“Good time to buy” continues…
May 7th, 2010 at 11:45 am
It was always good time to buy, since January 2008.
May 7th, 2010 at 1:22 pm
Perhaps RE would care to let us know when it isn’t a good time to buy. I’ve been reading this blog for 2.5 years and haven’t ever seen that occur.
,Nate, great comment in #1.
May 7th, 2010 at 3:12 pm
Perhaps RE would care to let us know when it isn’t a good time to buy. I’ve been reading this blog for 2.5 years and haven’t ever seen that occur.
—–
When isn’t good time to buy? Future. As you are reading this blog for 2.5 years, let me remind you his track record.
One and half year back:
2008 was definitely good time to buy – before the housing market went crazy with double digit appreciation with “sudden and furious” demand in 2009. If you bought your home 2008, you definitely bought it in right time.
One year back:
That’s right, folks. You had “window of opportunity” in 2009 Spring. If you were hoping for buying your home in 2010, you are a loser. The “window of opportunity” is closed in 2010.
Basically, “this year” is always good time to buy. “Next year” is always bad time to buy. Don’t wait for next year.
May 7th, 2010 at 3:37 pm
Pralay,
madhaus already bought. She is telling you not to buy, and you are buying that?
May 7th, 2010 at 3:40 pm
Buy now, baby needs a new pair of shoes!
.
What the hell is on that bed? It’s all shiny & crinkly.
May 7th, 2010 at 4:47 pm
Anyone surprised that RE didn’t answer the direct question he was asked? Let’s go to the videotape, Allen. Number 4, RE went to his old reliable play of
Great news on mortgage rates.
“Good time to buy” continues…
I must say, Jim, that didn’t surprise anyone.
You’re right, Allen, that’s the kind of play we’ve come to expect from him in this sort of challenge situation. It didn’t seem to catch anyone napping.
Jim, it’s such a standard opener, Pralay didn’t take it seriously. Look at that response! It’s not often you’ll see Pralay only use one link:
It was always good time to buy, since January 2008.
That almost looks like Pralay dialed it in, Allen. It’s sleek and smooth and makes its point without hitting the bystanders very hard. But it’s the 17th consecutive linked play I’ve seen Pralay make on a Friday post with comments under 50 for the days’ thread.
Jim, I’m glad you brought that up. Some of the team have been grousing about the link manuever, but I must say that last execution is what separates the pros from the amateurs.
Allen, couldn’t agree with you more. Pralay’s last fielding was beautiful and economical.
So, Jim, take a look at this. madhaus pops in on #6 with this gibe:
Perhaps RE would care to let us know when it isn’t a good time to buy. I’ve been reading this blog for 2.5 years and haven’t ever seen that occur.
That’s a rather short and sweet love tap from madhaus, Allen. I would have expected something more creative from her, but perhaps she hadn’t had her sixth mug of coffee yet.
Coffee really does make the difference in this sport, Jim. Once madhaus gets enough coffee, you never know if she’s going to write a sonnet or a gothic novel or a punk anthem.
One thing I know, Allen, is play has been rather listless this whole week. There haven’t been any hundred comment threads, and that’s where some players really shine.
You’re right, Allen. Pralay caught the lateral and #7 was a work of art. Two links and a new conclusion! There is a bad time to buy, in the future! But the future becomes the present, and once more, he’s price out forever!
Good one, Jim. So here’s a change-up from RE. Looks like madhaus fielded it perfectly with an assist from nomadic, but let’s go to the videotape again on #8:
madhaus already bought. She is telling you not to buy, and you are buying that?
RE bobbled that one a bit. Note his stumbling on “buy” in both the sense of purchasing a house and in accepting an opinion. He really ought to concentrate on the trollery and leave the wordplay to nomadic and madhaus. And as a troll, it was about a 6.
Speaking of nomadic, Jim, here’s a quick play:
Buy now, baby needs a new pair of shoes!
.
What the hell is on that bed? It’s all shiny & crinkly.
Allen, I have no idea what he’s talking about. Is that some cultural reference outside the real estate world or the sports channel?
Jim, it’s a crapshooting prayer. Came from some old movie in the days before Technicolor, or any color.
I did not know that. But what’s the shiny crinkly thing?
We’ll have to ask nomadic in the postgame wrap-up after the thread’s over, Jim, because I’m completely stumped.
Allen, this is the fifth time nomadic’s stumped us both. It’s also possible that not enough caffeine led to a reference mangle.
That’s right, Jim, but take a look at how madhaus rolled the whole play up with the sports analogies. And then, at the very end, a recursive rabbit punch:
Anyone surprised that RE didn’t answer the direct question he was asked?
May 7th, 2010 at 6:25 pm
By the way- with the latest news occurring with the stock market I sure don’t seem to be seeing any rosy, cheery ” GOOD NEWS!” posts from RE lately. Could it be because ( doom music) things aren’t all that fantastic? Uh oh!
May 7th, 2010 at 6:48 pm
That was incredible, Allen!
It sure was, Jim! Let’s play that again. Number 11:
By the way- with the latest news occurring with the stock market I sure don’t seem to be seeing any rosy, cheery ” GOOD NEWS!” posts from RE lately. Could it be because ( doom music) things aren’t all that fantastic? Uh oh!
Now see how the thread started with a rather good takedown by Nate, a rather weak follow-on by the Governator, and then a build by Pralay. I should say a linked build. Next, RE makes his standard good-news play, which set up the tag-teaming by Pralay, nomadic, and madhaus.
Then along comes bob, and he acts as if he’s starting the whole thread! Not only did he miss the entire play, which was set up by another “Time to Buy” tweak, but he insists there haven’t been any plays by RE at all!
RE’s going to be out for vengeance, Allen. Expect the hick jokes to commence.
May 7th, 2010 at 8:40 pm
hmm, I would have summarized this way:
#11, meet #4.
May 7th, 2010 at 8:43 pm
#9 was not a complete non sequitur. It was my token post of the day relevant to the house of the day. Sheesh.
I guess we could liken the bedspread to the oil spill off the coast of Louisiana.
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming: take it away, Allen & Jim.
May 7th, 2010 at 10:47 pm
#9 was not a complete non sequitur. It was my token post of the day relevant to the house of the day. Sheesh.
I guess we could liken the bedspread to the oil spill off the coast of Louisiana.
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming: take it away, Allen & Jim.
Jim, do you think he dissed us?
I don’t think so, Allen. nomadic’s remarks tend for the wry.
But Jim, perhaps we should take a look at today’s house. It does look like an equipment storage shed.
I agree, Allen. I’ve kept some training gear in a place that wasn’t much smaller than this, but the neighborhood was a lot nicer.
That was when you were playing for Baylor, right Jim?
Right you are, Allen. You could fit a helmet rack, pylons, field markers, a couple of down boxes and a bunch of carry bags in there.
Jim, I think I stored a 1959 Nash in a shed like that.
Good point, Allen, we may be looking at 1959 pricing soon.
May 7th, 2010 at 11:50 pm
>>Anyone surprised that RE didn’t answer the direct question he was asked?
Pot is calling the kettle black. Madhaus never answered the question of why she tells other people not to buy a house when she bought one herself.
May 7th, 2010 at 11:54 pm
The question has been answered again and again. If you can’t figure it out that’s your own problem.
May 7th, 2010 at 11:54 pm
Perhaps some reading lessons may help.
May 7th, 2010 at 11:57 pm
anon,
Who asked you to speak on behalf on madhaus?
May 8th, 2010 at 12:05 am
huh, I thought anon was on rotation to be her secretary this week. We’ll be back to petsmart groomer next week.
May 8th, 2010 at 12:44 am
Madhaus never answered the question of why she tells other people not to buy a house when she bought one herself.
—–
I don’t remember her saying not to buy. Reference please.
May 8th, 2010 at 12:46 am
madhaus already bought. She is telling you not to buy, and you are buying that?
—-
Considering the fact she never told me not to buy, your whole point is irrelevant.
May 8th, 2010 at 1:03 am
>>I don’t remember her saying not to buy. Reference please.
It’s more like you don’t comprehend. If she did answer the question, why is it you’re unable to come up with a link?
May 8th, 2010 at 8:38 am
Well, you claimed “why she tells other people not to buy a house when she bought one herself“. So it’s not my job to provide the link. It’s your job because you claimed that she said so. And based on your last twisted answer, I am assuming you are just lying. Nothing new, Mr Liar Estater.
May 8th, 2010 at 9:54 am
No wonder this paperwork is still sitting here. Who took Petsmart Groomer away when I was expecting him to be my secretary all the time.
And I’m anon’s secretary, nomadic. Get your org chart in better shape.
Insecure Techie, I think we’re going to find a few flags on RE’s last two plays, but Allen and Jim are drinking champagne in the locker room. One of them said something about wanting a sandwich so I don’t expect them back too soon.
May 8th, 2010 at 10:13 am
Pot is calling the kettle black. Madhaus never answered the question of why she tells other people not to buy a house when she bought one herself.
Is there anyone here other than the delusional NAR spokesman (that’s you, RE) who thinks I told people not to buy?
I didn’t think so.
So actually pot (that’s you, RE) is calling the Steuben vase (that’s me, RE) black. (RE, Steuben makes crystal. Crystal is made out of glass. Glass is not black. Glass is transparent. I want to be sure you understand how badly you botched your inartful cliche.)
Furthermore, pot is calling the crystal vase black because he doesn’t want to answer a very simple question:
So, RE, when is NOT a good time to buy?
May 8th, 2010 at 11:38 am
madhaus,
Nice deflection, yet you’re still evading the question, and pretending that you did not represent a certain position, which is clearly an outright lie.
As you know well, RE has always responded to every question, including the time when you asked about my zip code. It is you who is playing hide and seek. If you want to play at that level, my answer to you is that I never told people to buy either; I only conveyed that it’s a good time to buy.
May 8th, 2010 at 11:39 am
Speaking of pot and kettles, the biggest hypocrite is Pralay. To this date, he has been asked numerous times: What’s your excuse for not buying when the prices are down? Yet, no answer to date.
May 8th, 2010 at 11:52 am
> Who took Petsmart Groomer away when I was expecting him to be my secretary all the time.
International vacation hiatus.
May 8th, 2010 at 1:32 pm
If you want to play at that level, my answer to you is that I never told people to buy either; I only conveyed that it’s a good time to buy.
Yes, but once more, RE, when is it NOT a good time to buy?. I don’t see why you won’t answer such a simple question. You have never answered this question. Ever. So stop with the indignation and the deflection and dragging other people into the arguments and the flat out lies.
When is it NOT a good time to buy?
May 8th, 2010 at 3:01 pm
madhaus,
Repetition won’t make your case, because:
- you are the one who did not answer the question, and expect others to do so
- You are the one who bought a house and yet tells others not to
- You are the one who condones Pralay for not answering a simple question, and accuses another person of the same thing
You are a major hypocrite.
May 8th, 2010 at 10:17 pm
To this date, he has been asked numerous times: What’s your excuse for not buying when the prices are down? Yet, no answer to date.
—-
Let’s play Liar Estater’s game first and answer it (actually instead of answering, asking counter questions) in his own way:
RealLiar Estater, long before you asked me above question, I asked you another question: is your mother a whore? I asked you numerous times. Yet, no answer to date. Now the real answer for
LiarReal Estater. I don’t need to answer question if an used car salesman asks me “what is your excuse for not buying car when car is cheap?” Your question is not better.May 8th, 2010 at 10:36 pm
and pretending that you did not represent a certain position,
—–
LOL! That’s quite a change of tone within 12 posts.
In #16 Liar Estater says “….why she tells other people….“. Only one problem – Liar Estater can’t show/prove that madhaus told so. So, in #27 Liar Estater changes his tone and says “…you did not represent a certain position…..“. That’s easier. Liar Estater don’t need to show certain link to prove that madhaus TOLD something. Liar Estater just claim that she “represent a certain position”.
Let’s try to guess Liar Estater’s next position:
May 9th, 2010 at 12:32 pm
#32 lol:)
#31 – but RE, I thought that the Rule was No Name Calling!!!
tsk tsk
and, what an ugly, crappy storage shed in an ugly, crappy neighborhood. indeed, why not buy a house NOW when you can get such a gem for $699,888
May 9th, 2010 at 1:01 pm
>>I asked you another question: is your mother a whore? I asked you numerous times. Yet, no answer to date.
All, this is what Pralay is all about. An unfortunate product from the lower end of the Caste system. I tried to save him some embarrassment by ignoring him, but he insists on being a loser.
May 9th, 2010 at 1:03 pm
Tuno says,
>> I thought that the Rule was No Name Calling!!!
Where is the name calling? I gave 3 examples supporting a fact.
May 9th, 2010 at 1:05 pm
Allow me to quote you:
You are a major hypocrite.
May 9th, 2010 at 1:14 pm
nomadic,
That’s name calling, because you gave no fact to support your case.
May 9th, 2010 at 2:22 pm
Happy Mother’s day everyone! Pralay has a special question for you on a very special day.
May 9th, 2010 at 2:32 pm
That question is exclusively for our favorite troll.
May 14th, 2010 at 9:05 am
So, RE, enough deflecting.
When is it not a good time to buy?
Such a simple question, yet he can’t answer it. Why is that? Because if he ever admits that there exist bad times to buy a house, his entire argument collapses, and he knows it. Hence the subject-changes, the unrelated counter-questions, the false claims, the outright lies, and the insults.
So, RE, I guess you’re stuck. If you admit that there is any situation that’s a bad time to buy, you LOSE.
But the problem is, you lost a long time ago. You’re the “special” kid on the baseball team who wouldn’t shake hands with the winners. Then you kept demanding extra at-bats long after your (losing) teammates left and the winners sat around with embarassed smiles watching you throw tantrums.
They really wanted to hang you on a fence post by your underwear, but their coach has already threatened them about it being bad sportsmanship no matter how obnoxious you are. After all, you just can’t help being “special.”
And no matter how much you bray, the donkey still is underwater.
May 14th, 2010 at 9:33 am
madhaus,
I already responded. The ball is in your court. Stop trying to shift the attention.
May 14th, 2010 at 9:40 am
madhaus, RealEstater has a history of not responding to genuine questions.
May 14th, 2010 at 9:44 am
dreamT,
WTF? You asked me to return before midnight, and then you did not show up.
May 14th, 2010 at 9:46 am
Certainly you must mean that your answer never showed up.
May 14th, 2010 at 10:02 am
Back to the issues.
It’s a great time to buy the Euro now. We have seen this before. After the rescue money comes to Greece, you’ll see a similar bounce-back we got here in the U.S.
May 14th, 2010 at 10:45 am
The ECB just agreed to start buying government bonds, and yet you’re already calling a bottom?
May 14th, 2010 at 10:50 am
Yes
May 14th, 2010 at 11:10 am
It’s a great time to buy the Euro now.
——-
There are only 2 possilities(sic):
1. A country with currency that weakens with the rising dollar — Real Estater loses.
2. A country with currency that strengthens with the rising dollar — Might as well be in U.S. dollar; useless strategy for Real Estater.
Not my word, our favorite investment adviser said so.
May 14th, 2010 at 11:30 am
Million dollar homes that have gone pending in 94087:
1419 PRINCE EDWARD WY – $1.219M
1565 KLAMATH DR – $1.199M
1502 KENNEWICK DR – $1.195M
1507 KINGSGATE DR – $1.168M
1135 SHENANDOAH DR – $1.05M
There are tons more. Just picking out the 50′s ranchers that might look like madhaus’ shack.
May 14th, 2010 at 11:32 am
Also,
803 SELKIRK PL – $1.048M
Somehow, everybody is able to sell their home for over a mil except for madhaus. Do you sense some B.S. here?
May 14th, 2010 at 11:59 am
Is madhaus selling his house? I missed that part.
May 14th, 2010 at 12:23 pm
“his house”
The hormonal damage can’t have been that bad.
May 14th, 2010 at 12:30 pm
I didn’t ask RE to respond. I asked him to answer a question.
The question is: Is there ever a case when now is not the time to buy real estate?. This question has never been answered by RE. Never.
The short answer would be either “yes” or “no.” An actual answer would include an explanation for that opinion.
Wonder why he won’t answer it. I thought he was “here to help”! Ah, what do you expect from an amateur, anyway?
May 14th, 2010 at 1:28 pm
“The question is: Is there ever a case when now is not the time to buy real estate?. This question has never been answered by RE. Never.
The short answer would be either “yes” or “no.” An actual answer would include an explanation for that opinion.”
I’m not sure how he’d prove the negative in this case…
May 14th, 2010 at 1:29 pm
More trolling by madhaus. Ignore.
May 14th, 2010 at 1:52 pm
More trolling by madhaus. Ignore.
—-
Translation: I can’t answer her question. So I am going pretend that I am ignoring her.
May 14th, 2010 at 3:07 pm
LOL. You’re talking about yourself, Pralay? How many times have you avoided the question: What’s your excuse for not buying when the price is (actually now we should say was) low?
May 14th, 2010 at 4:24 pm
Real Estater- “What’s your excuse for not buying when the price is (actually now we should say was) low?”
Maybe he’s not sure how large the RBA will be in a couple of years?
May 14th, 2010 at 5:56 pm
Tune in Monday for how large the RBA is now. Feel free to make some advance predictions.
RE, answer the question. If you don’t, then you reveal yourself as a complete real estate shill.
What am I saying? No matter what he says, he is complete real estate Shiller in any Case.
May 14th, 2010 at 6:41 pm
You’re talking about yourself, Pralay? How many times have you avoided the question: What’s your excuse for not buying when the price is (actually now we should say was) low?
—-
Liar! Answered it already. In case Liar Estater couldn’t comprehend it – second paragraph was LiarEstater-style answer and third para was answer in my style.
May 14th, 2010 at 7:06 pm
Also,
803 SELKIRK PL – $1.048M
Somehow, everybody is able to sell their home for over a mil except for madhaus. Do you sense some B.S. here?
—–
Great find, Faux Estater. I know what you mean by “everybody”. There are 44 SFH in market in 94087 and quarter of them sitting in market for 100 days. I guess those are not counted in “everybody”.
And this specific property (803 SELKIRK PL), 2004 sale price $851K. The current price ($1048K) is a great investment of six years after paying all the interests to bank, 6% commission and “gorgeous remodel” with quartz stone counters, built-in appliances, maple hardwood floors, built-in China cabinets, wine fridge and Frrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrench doors.
May 14th, 2010 at 9:21 pm
“Tune in Monday for how large the RBA is now. Feel free to make some advance predictions.”
So basically you’re asking, How many homes have recently moved to a busy road?
My guess: The RBA continued to shrink, one move at a time.
May 14th, 2010 at 9:43 pm
That leads us to the solution for the continuing shrinkage of the RBA – we have to stop building roads.
May 14th, 2010 at 9:55 pm
“That leads us to the solution for the continuing shrinkage of the RBA – we have to stop building roads.”
Roads are fine, as long as they are not busy. We need to stop building cars! In fact, why not just prohibit all cars in the RBA? Home values would definitely go up.
May 14th, 2010 at 10:05 pm
No, home values would go down, as houses would take up the traffic slack and all move next to airports, train tracks, and high-tension power lines.
