Yesterday I mentioned that the National Association of Realtors feels they are fighting for their very survival.  To do so, they are rallying their members to join their political arm (and doubling their dues in the process).

But you don’t have to be a NAR member to join in the fun.  Head on over to the Realtor Action Center and find out how you can make sure Realtors aren’t threatened by all these woes that they had nothing to do with, such as mortgage fraud, irresponsibly marketing homes to people who couldn’t afford them, or misrepresenting real property as an investment by people who aren’t qualified to be investment advisors.

The above copy from NAR shows what consummate professionals they are.  The very beginning of this new mission begins with a sentence fragment.  You can be assured there isn’t a single member of this fine organization who has any idea why that’s a mistake, either.

This is an Open Thread.  Feel free to weigh in on the the NAR, the Realtor Party, or any housing topic you wish.  Seen any cute Open Houses yesterday?  How about cute Realtors?  No?  Then check out these hot numbers, like Zebra Lady.  Rrowl!  Which one do you want to personally handle your escrow?

    How about some instant equity!

I’m guessing that these REALTORs expect to have the commission computed based on the former selling price. In fact, it’s probably more work today, but for far less pay. I’m sure you all feel that they are all underpaid with all of today’s underbidding and all. I’m sure the REALTOR PARTY will take care of this.

Scary. You know those people in high school/college who just weren’t all that smart? They were OK people, just …. kinda blah in the intelligence dept? Lots of them became Realtards.

  3. madhaus Says:

How about using the Realtors in that video to discuss the idea of confidence makes one an attractive mate (over in yesterday’s thread)? Zebra Lady seems pretty confident, for example.

How’s this: If the human race was destroyed other than the people in that video (the video studio with the NAR logo protected them from global nuclear attack), which one would you choose? Why?

  4. SEA Says:

#3- When will you learn? We’d need to see the houses–then we’d find out what’s in the pot. Certainly you don’t pick the person and hope for the house.

Crack shack or Mansion, Part II

  6. madhaus Says:

#4, the houses were destroyed too. You were in the studio when the rest of the world was clobbered. This is it, you and these people forever.

    CHOOSE WISELY.

  7. SEA Says:

I was in that studio? Uh, I guess I get what I deserve.

  8. sfbubblebuyer Says:

I see that the NAR has called my bluff from when I said that I would support ANY third party in the U.S.

  9. sfbubblebuyer Says:

Oh yah, and she REALLY DOES carry weight!

  10. A. Lewis Says:

The desperation is obvious in their camp. Let us hope this signals that Realtors as a whole have jumped the shark, and maybe we can look forward to a future time with less leeches working against the buyer and a sane payment scheme for what little services Realtors bring to the table. Give us alternatives to the ‘standard’ 6%! Give us full information instead of hiding things on realtor-controlled MLS. Give us true market information like supply and demand!

I would recommend reading the “2011 Top Public Policy Priorities” so you understand the political element here.

Basically, they have scummy, greedy, anti-consumer interests in all but two items (out of 10 listed). So you should in general all be against them in the voting booth.

The two things I agree with them on are:

    1) Better Federal Flood Insurance.
    2) Net neutrality (i.e., don’t let the ISPs decide which data flows fastest and charge more to some than others for the same amount of data).

2 out of 10 is bad for a PAC.

A realtor in one of Saturday’s links agrees with you, sort of:
