Don’t miss the opportunity… to be annexed to Campbell!

Here’s an on-the-ground report from Burbed reader Sam Adu, direct from comments.  In case you were wondering if they were making any more land, it looks like they are.  Unfortunately, this county land is going to end up in Campbell.  Hurry, offers are due Wednesday! Thanks very much for the Open House report, Sam!

The best ‘burbed-esque house I visited yesterday was, of course, in Campbell…or should I say a soon-to-be annexed part of Campbell.

imageI’m always captivated by homes with huge walls surrounding them (i.e. 183 Dillon, Campbell). It must be how they remind me of my very short stay in a Ghanaian prison during some unrest we had in the late 90s. I wasn’t mistreated in there but all the guys on my street were definitely fearful and we were surrounded by these humongous walls in prison.

Anyways, we visited 1125 Shamrock yesterday. There is a zero lot line in the rear of the house with a giant rear hotel wall (easily seen in pics) abutting the property.

The real estate agent recommended that we paint a mural (or graffiti?) on the hotel wall to pretty it up. I liked to imagine myself throwing a tennis ball against that wall all day long for my lab and waking up all the hotel guests. Who the hell would be getting a hotel room in that part of Campbell though?

imageRedfin picture #3 of the place has a ‘cat on a dresser’, which is almost as good as ‘dudes on a couch’. It was funny visiting the place because that dang cat was sitting in the exact same spot when we were there.

Right next to that cat (and cropped out of the picture) is a bookshelf full of scientology dvds+books. Black cat + Scientology material + foreboding wall = Mr. and Mrs. Adu high-tailing it out of there.

Too much bad ju-ju at that house for us…not to mention that the house is smaller than the Adus’ current apartment.

Added bunus: the self storage near the hotel. Great for neighborhood tradesmen to store their tools, or for serial killers to stash bodies. Who needs a bigger house?

  2. madhaus Says:

Who needs to rent self-storage? With this small house, the yard seems even bigger. Plenty of room to bury your mistakes, er, opportunities.

  3. The Gilroy Alex Says:

This has a high Creepy Guy rating. This is where the local Creepy Guy would live. And invite kids over for parties! Boys only, sorry girls!

  4. Divasm Says:

Mmm…I think we’re aiming for girls with that large pink miniature house in the backyard. I wonder if you could list that as “charming in-law unit?” :)

At first I didn’t see a child’s room in the photos and then I was going to be SUPER creeped out…all that play stuff in the backyard with no kid room? But then I spotted the bunkbed room, I don’t recognize children’s rooms without toys all over the floor anymore apparently.

  5. AstroWallaby Says:

Sweet, that back wall is a Motel 6. Possibly one of the creepier ones I’ve seen because that odd-shaped lot puts the rooms at one end right next to the road/sidewalk. Only the finest…

The little pink house in the backyard is awesome. Just think, when real estate prices come back you could subdivide the lot and sell *that* for $380,000!

  6. SEA Says:

A tall wall to keep the noise of the busy street away? That’s not a bug; it’s a feature.

You guys can’t even recognize humor?

Good news! Another $50M for Palo Alto to spend

  9. Obama Says:

Smart meter’s great that all we need in Palo Alto. What happen to you real estater the stock market have your tongue…seems you only appear when the market goes up but boy when it goes down you sure disappeared fast. Tough time paying the trophy wife’s botox bill and the 2002 Porsche Boxter’s lease??

Just so you all know, we checked and the pink princess midget in-law unit in the backyard is going with the owners once this house sells (it is a short sale after all).
