In the path of progress!

Here’s a great find from Burbed reader and occasional Guest Editor sonarrat!  Many thanks for this listing in Google’s backyard!

Great opportunity in Mountain View. Blocks from Google and in the path of progress. This is an older two bed one bath home on a huge lot, perfect for a family who wants property or for a developer. New construction coming two parcels away.

imageHere’s what sonarrat had to say about this house:

We have a new Burbed classic in the making. This one’s in the path of progress! Why, you ask? They’re building a stairway to Google!

That’s even better than an overplayed Led Zeppelin hit, because it won’t hurt your ears and it costs nothing to look.

imageIn the path of progress, indeed! But doesn’t that mean it’s going to be condemned under eminent domain?

At least it has electricity!

Now, check out the neighborhood.  I’m not sure which parcel has the new construction coming, but there sure seems to be a number of multifamily units quite nearby. You’ll have so many more neighbors to socialize with, or at least so many more cars blocking your driveway.

Actually I think I might have found it, at least I found a bulldozer.

It sure would be a shame to lose that terrific vehicle collection.  Maybe they could put them in that nice parking lot next door.

But this house has something even better going for it than the bridge they’re building to Google.  Look what you have in easy walking distance.

Yes, if you ever get tired of this house, just remember, you could be living here!

“That’s even better than an overplayed Led Zeppelin hit” – but what happens when you listen to the Realtor talk backwards? Does the Realtor live in Aleister Crowley’s old house?

These little houses with big lots are neat, and help keep it real, as in over $1000 per square foot, but how come the yards are so neglected? Does it matter, since the owners are only waiting for 8 AM on 8/8 to pave ’em over? Or is having your own homeless camp or BMX track in back that much more fun than having a garden?

  3. SEA Says:

Yes, in the path of progress.

I think we’ve found the future site of Occupy Mountain View!

You’d not believe how many interesting “diverse” ways to live, many of them not associated with a first-world, industrialized country, exist in Mountain View and all within walking distance to Google.

the seller must have been downwind from TCE fumes the day he/she priced that house. and i use the term ‘house’ loosely, since it looks like a tear-down.

and “blocks from google”?!? sure, if you want to appear on the evening news like one of those runaway dogs that gets loose and tries to cross the freeway during commute hours. the bee-line might be just blocks from google, but the human route involves a few more turns onto city streets and cross the 1-mile mark.

I thought Google was leaking across to the “good” side of 101?

I thought Google was leaking across to the “good” side of 101? Or is it “oozing?”

  9. sonarrat Says:

There’s a pedestrian bridge being built from next to Gable’s End right to the Google HQ. Path of progress indeed!

  10. madhaus Says:

I think this page covers the bridge over 101 near Plymouth. It’s a City of Mountain View project finishing out the Permanente Creek trail, not to be confused with Google’s request to build two additional bridges next to their new NASA Ames complex.

Back on the market for $735K.
