BLACK FRIDAY DEALS: Cheapest House in Marin County!
We hope you are enjoying Burbed’s BLACK FRIDAY DEALS, where we will go to great lengths to find you the absolutely positively least expensive house we can. Yesterday’s house was a bit of a surprise, being not really a house and not really land for sale and not really the sort of place you’d want to impress your co-workers with. So today, we’re off to the land of hot tubs and aging hippies with money: Marin County! How much would you expect the last expensive house to be?
This find was a surprise. I set my Redfin search for all the houses in Marin County under $200,000 and I found exactly… one. This one. And it was for a lot less than $200K, too.

So, the deal with properties like this is not only are they right on a curvy road that gets way more traffic than it was ever intended to support, but Marin development rules typically do not allow for any expansion–not even raising the roof–or adding any bathrooms. That’s where the creativity comes in. Take this space, do not change the envelope or number of bathrooms or add anything modern looking to the exterior, and still find some way to live in it.

Repairs? Tis only a flesh wound!
(And agreed about Sir Francis Drake, not much of a getaway if your front yard is a parking lot every weekend — does it get bad during weekday commute hours too?)

Ah, this brings back memories of a now defunct real estate blog – Marin POS. It was very much like Burbed but with no Palo Alto to keep things going it petered out. It’s sadly missed.

Holy cr@p! Marin County reaches up that far? I had to zoom way out to figure out where that was.

What’s up with that last picture? Does your cabin share a driveway with the neighbor?
Maybe it’s a serf cabin?
