UPDATED: Gourgeous East SJ home could possibly be used as an arena
Today’s prestigious property was sent in by Burbed reader Tracy. You know that saying about shutting the barn door after the horses run away? These barn doors are wide open, and the barnyard is large. Deep, too. Come to Peacock Canyon, and breathe in the fresh air.
UPDATE at end of article.

ON REDFIN: 11 daysHistoric ALum Rock Stables is ready for a new start. 12 stall horse stable as well as level lot that could be used for a home or possibly an arena. Gourgeous views of Peacock Canyon and access to the Alum Rock Regional Park make this an ideal location for the horseman or naturist.
Here’s why Tracy sent this listing in for some Burbed loving.
I have fantasized about this place, many times when it has been on the market. It looks to be located midway down a landslide, but that might just be me. The view is amazing, and the price seems right, but it is a crap shack, so qualifies for the burbed treatment.
It certainly does! This place sold for an eye-popping $1.2 million in 2006, which means it’s worth almost two million now. What a deal the bank is offering.
And go over to the Redfin listing to check out the pictures, because this is another one of those homes for visually organized people where every room is painted a different very bright primary color. Maybe the FBs were running a daycare along with the horse business.
Given how old the structures are, these are in surprising good shape! They were built in the 19th Century, yet modernization was allowed to happen. Look, they even installed indoor plumbing!
Now if you really want some cognitive dissonance with your morning coffee, check out Zillow’s price history:
You let those horses out of the barn, and the barn is now worth less than it was 21 years ago. Then again, Zillow has a completely different set of pictures for the property, so that could explain the discrepancy. Also a different address. Maybe these are competing Alum Rock Stables properties.
Well, one address or the other is an ideal location for the horseman or naturist. I just wonder if the Realtard who wrote this copy knows what a naturist is.
Update 12:15 pm: The Redfin link above is now bouncing to 11125 Canon Vista Ave, with 2006 information. And different pictures since that’s a previous listing. It also says that property is pending as of today. Head over to Trulia to see the above pictures and copy, while you can.

Love the 2006 over bidding.

“naturist” means nudist, BTW.

Let’s see: “horseman”, “naturist”, secluded location complete with stables… so is the realtor coming right out and saying this would be the perfect property for someone who’s into “pony play”? That’s a pretty bold marketing strategy, I’ll give them that.
(Fair warning, Googling that phrase is *seriously* NSFW.)

I think this place wins a Special Burbed and Perturbed award. The listing… the property… is GONE. Click the link above and you are taken to 11125 Canon Vista Ave, the same address that Zillow pointed to when I wrote this up. And different pictures, since it was a different listing.
Searching for the original listing yields nothing. Good thing it’s still in cache, but who knows for how long. And the pictures are gone.
Head over to Trulia for a view of the original listing and pictures… while you can!

So, at 300K? Is the house red-tagged? Well poisoned? This seems actually really well priced.

If I wanted to live in East San Jose, I would have snapped that up! Then when people asked my kids “What’s a matter with you, did you grow up in a barn?” they could shoot back “You betcha!”

Hmm.

Look at the street view… It’s wrong, by the way, it’s around the corner.
http://crissa.twu.net/928evelyn.jpg It’s that one, with the tarp on it.
Btw, the tarp has been destroyed in the recent storm.

For extra fun… Look for the ‘fireplace’.

I wonder if this place is on any historical registries. Who knows, it might of once been the Western States headquarters for President Taft’s Secret Pony Brigade!

Forget these trash investments. Everyone bought AAPL and BAC when I recommended it one month ago, right?

Oh, come on, we all know that real estate is the only really safe investment.

I was wondering if RE would show up to talk about AAPL. Didn’t you say wealth is only earned via real estate??? Now you’re changing your story.

SEA, I see you posted at 4:14 pm, almost four hours after this article update:
Did you feel the need to post the same fact again because you bought this property? And if so, can we use it for a Big Burbed Blow-out Bubble Bash?
March 14th, 2012 at 6:33 pm
I didn’t even notice it was updated until after you posted #14.

California prison system is overcrowded. I am going to buy this property and start private prison system for overflowed state prisons. Just watch for the stock price for my privatized prison company with code name PRSN. AAPL? That’s just a peanut.
