This house could belong in Uruapan Mexico. The houses are walled off, or connected up for security. When we stayed with a family there they pulled a metal gate across the front and padlocked us in. One morning no one could find the key, and after many hours of searching, it turned up in the three year old’s “Bolsa.”

You’re right, it’s missing the razor wire and automated turret-guns.

Definitely like the over-sized chimney.

Not only this house is close to Facebook, it is also close to the infamous intersection. You can see the crosswalk marked yellow on satellite view.

Oh this poor, neglected property, abandoned while I discipline the toddlers whining in Gables End.

While you’re at it over there smack someone for calling India at 11:30 pm their local time. Common courtesy dictates you pick a timeslot mutually inconvenient for both parties.

After graduating from college, I set a goal to buy my first house before age 30. I’ve been staying with my parents for the past 3 years, and I believe my dream will be realized in about another year. I am hoping that interest rate stays low until then. Can’t wait!

no need to pine over the lack of arms: http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/plush/e71c/?pfm=homepage_Featured_3_e71c
you can load up on these, then wait for the imminent barrage of arms pointing back at you (we are talking about EPA). you’re on your own to find a source for cauldrons of hot oil to drop over that lovely wall.
i don’t see the moat. did they screw up and put it on the wrong side of the wall?

WTF?!? i just got caught up on the last couple days’ postings… 71 comments on 5/31… madhaus, that’s gotta be a record. someone needs to grab those two kids and take away the sugary treats & caffeine, up their ritalin doses, then smacks to the backside of their heads. uh, do those steps in reverse order.
dollarbin – you mentioned this house from your neighborhood: http://www.redfin.com/CA/Mountain-View/2400-Alvin-St-94043/home/1486798
i’d forgotten who laid claim to being a monta loman last year. don’t know who you are, but we should set up a secret signal to meet in the park so we can have a snark-fest. i’m still waiting to see what happens to the other two houses from that same probate sale – flips or new residents?

I think z2amiller is a Monta Loman – IIRC his house featured on burbed last year. He was a very good sport about it, and it was a nicer house than the typical burbed fare.

Well, at least it doesn’t have the infamous “Possession COE + 30″ notation…..

Curb appeal makes you a target in da EPA

mabeldu, we used to routinely have threads over 100 comments and would hit 200 every couple of weeks. But with the collapse of the housing bubble, interest in bubble sites went away. Many real estate bubble sites are gone. We’re still here, but not all the commenters stayed.
That said, I’m not even sure the Gables End thread is a record for 2012. There may have been a recent one that went over 100, but lets just say some animals are more equal than others when it comes to how well-received their comments are.
However, with new bubble pricing comes new opportunities for records of all types, including record stupidity in homedebtorship.

mabeldu-Yeah, z2amiller and I are both known Monta Lomans, although my place doesn’t have enough character to have been a Burbed feature. I’m hoping to check out 2400 Alvin this weekend, I’m sure they fixed it up quite a bit. On the other hand, I’m a little sad to see that they got rid of the floor to ceiling windows in the living room, a key architectural feature for Eichlers. (compare photo 4 in the new listing to the 8th photo in the original listing: http://www.redfin.com/CA/Mountain-View/2400-Alvin-St-94043/home/1486798/mlsListings-81144474 ).

dollarbin, get yourself an avatar (gravatar.com) – assuming that’s what your link is about.

so for those of us who are not architecture fiends, what exactly is the big deal with Eichlers anyway?
(yes, go ahead, feel free to point and laugh)
June 3rd, 2012 at 12:50 am
I don’t know, the Eichlers are expensive to heat. Drafty as heck.

2400 Alvin was sold for $875K. Nice flip: $300K over price paid back in February.
