Pinnacle of Contemporary Indoor-Outdoor Living

Here’s a moldy oldie that got stuck to the lining of the ol’ Burbed inbox.  Of course you can no longer buy it since it went pending in ten days and has now sold. But we can still enjoy it.  Many thanks to Burbed reader Petsmart Groomer for bringing this superb Sunnyvale shelter to our attention!  That’s right, Sunnyvale, one of the ten best places in the entire country to raise kids!

brooklineThere’s no doubt that the Real Bay Area is hot, hot, hot!  But even here in the Corridor of Not Quite (which hugs El Camino Real), there’s hard evidence of overbidding.  This house sold for 7.5% above asking!  How else can anyone explain the sale price for this home that doesn’t have Cupertino schools or even the best Sunnyvale elementary?

At least the photographer did a nice job lining up photos 3 and 4 so everyone could really enjoy that pitched roof.

Too bad the same care wasn’t applied to the HDR.

If those trees glowed any more the EPA would have to remediate the entire neighborhood.

Interesting price history on this Eichler. It was recently assessed lower than its purchase price a decade ago, and yet (with remodel/updates?) it just sold for over triple that price.

If the trend continues, it could transition into the RBA.

madhaus, are you conceding a point to Real Estater?

    :-P

This house doesn’t change my general opinion of Eichlers (IE, they’re wooden tents perched on concrete slabs, with all the bad that implies), but I have to say they did a nice job decorating this one, particularly with the “2001 – A Space Odyssey” white kitchen. All it needs is a swimming pool filled with dolphins in the atrium.

(No, wait, that was “2010 – The Year We Make Contact”…)

1.3 megabucks for even the *prettiest* State Park toilet building on earth seems a little steep based on the “Nearby Similar Sales”, but apparently the market has spoken. Bidding war between two Facebook-er Trekkies?

“Damn it Jim, what the hell is the matter with you? Other people have birthdays, why are we treating yours like a funeral?”

Huh? Wut? Sorry, I’m mesmerized by the Indoor! Outdoor! Indoor! Outdoor! Indoor! pitched roof GIF.

  5. AstroWallaby Says:

The really cool thing about the pitched roof section on an Eichler is how it gives you twin splash-pools on either side of it every time it rains. Hopefully there’s a set of those RV roof-rack ladders on the house to let the kids scamper up and enjoy them.

This could make sense in Hawaii or even SoCal from Newport Beach south. In the BA it’s just stupid.

  7. Top Dog Says:

    Alex boy,

If the house were available to you, you’d take it. You’re like criticizing a chick’s looks in front of a TV set. If you actually had a shot, you’d take her, right?

  8. Alex Says:

@ Top Dog — I take Faux Estater’s wife all the time…doggie style too.

This thing is a monstrosity. Which dumbfck bought this POS?!

For some reason, my gf likes Eichlers. I told her I’d rather wear wife-beaters and sit in a trailer all day.

  9. Top Dog Says:

Your gf like Eichlers because those floor to ceiling windows are perfect for exhibitionist.

  10. Alex Says:

My gf is a prude. Mrs. Faux Estater is the exhibitionist.

Speaking of which, where is that numbnut these days? Is that fool still around?

  11. Bystander Says:

Bay Area spirit has reached a new low here.
