Great starter home on the west side featuring two bedrooms and one bath. Nice large deck, yard, views and more. This is your oppportunity. .. don’t miss it

We’ve got plenty about both houses… after the break.

The listing copy for 3815 is some of the best we’ve seen in a long time.  That is if by “best” we actually mean something the opposite of best.

LOCATED ON THE WORLD RENOWN SAN FRANCISCO PENINSULA

120617-edison-satellite-mapEvery other property we’ve ever featured in San Mateo was in boring, humdrum San Mateo County instead.

WITHIN MINTUES FROM SCHOOLS, SHOPPING CENTERS, TRANSPORTATION AND THE SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT!

No other home spotlighted on Burbed, whether in San Mateo or anywhere else, has ever been within MINTUES of schools, shopping centers and transportation.  Not even the ones in San Francisco.  And the airport?  Excuse me, THE SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT!  The airport is the cherry on top.  We don’t know how many MINTUES away it is, but most other listings don’t consider this a good thing.

120617-edison-hardwood-gleamGLEAMING HARDWOOD FLOORS,

Look at that gleam!  Better wear your Revos and SPF 50, just in case.

AN UPDATED EAT IN KITCHEN WITH GRANITE COUNTER TOPS

And we so rarely see homes with granite counter tops.  Too bad they didn’t go for the hat trick and put in “stainless steal” appliances.

120617-edison-3815-deckFRENCH DOORS LEADING OUT TO A PRIVATE PATIO

Private patio sounds great, but “this is what you get in lieu of a back yard” does not.

AN ATTACHED GARAGE! HURRY!

Because the hospital is going to drag it across the street if you don’t buy it right this minute!  HURRY!

No wonder they think that THIS HOME WON’T LAST LONG!  Heck, it was only foreclosed on six months ago!

And don’t think 3821 is just tagging along for the ride.  Check out the listing history.

Yes, a price increase!  On a short sale.  Is this place Special, or what?  Now let’s what amer_icongrl has to say about these properties.

120617-edison-living-3821I thought you might enjoy the following listings.

While it’s clear that the neighbor across the street is the county hospital, it’s a little hard to tell from Google street view that the houses are actually directly across the street from the ambulance and police entrance of the Psychiatric ER for San Mateo Co. (with the medical ER conveniently located next door).

The hospital recently banned smoking "on campus" which causes the patients and visitors to head for the sidewalk across from the houses to smoke and litter. All this for $599,000 and $596,000 respectively!

120617-edison-granite-3815The relationship between the surrounding neighbors and the hospital is very acrimonious (I know, it’s shocking to buy a half million dollar home across from SM General and discover that 120617-edison-decor-3821you… live across the street from SM General).

I love nothing more than to see a homeless guy in a half-falling off gown, with his IV pole, enjoying a smoke on Edison street.

Thanks again for your excellent (and much-needed) website!

Streetview won’t admit what that entrance is, and neither will a satellite shot, but this is as good an excuse as any to break out some RED ARROWS.

And here is that entrance in question.

Woo-wee, looks like they’re expecting so much intake they’ve got multiple lanes to better serve you!  Sure hope this doesn’t mean that some of the clients will wander around your front yard if they’re tired of waiting their turn to pay the festival parking fee.

This is your oppportunity. .. don’t miss it

I’ve been looking for an opppportunity, but this is only oppportunity. So close.

  2. nomadic Says:

Excellent find. Just think of the convenience: your job drives you batshit crazy? Help is right across the street. Better yet, they should market these to Resident doctors – they work ridiculously long hours and can stagger back across the street for some sleep after their 30-hour shift.

Check out the kitchen picture (#5) for 3821 – the stove looks like it has been moved, and it’s hanging out below a window. I guess the window takes the place of an actual vent hood. Forget the “work triangle” though.

This is indeed an awesome find. +1

TWO houses to pick at and no one shows up? Where is everyone today?

  5. Sunny(vale) Kim Says:

I was busy selling some of my FB shares after 20% profit in a week.

  6. mabeldu Says:

the website was down for a chunk of the day; cache only. probably caused by the huge crowds swarming this place. places.

i might consider one of these. there are days (and this is one of ‘em) when having that quiet sanctuary directly across the street would be an inviting escape. assuming the inmates are quiet, that is. (maybe i shouldn’t use “escape” in this paragraph)

world renown SFO? i can beat that. i’m mere MINUTES from WR google, WR facebook, WR former home of steve jobs, WR superfund site, WR naked moffet hangar, WR… eh, nevermind. someone looking at one of these homes isn’t interested in true WR qualities.

if the bushes in front of 3815 grow any larger, the house will succeed in camouflaging itself. you could wander off to one of the noted sites MINUTES away, then not find the house again.

  7. SEA Says:

    “20% profit in a week.”

Did you buy an extra RBA rental so you end up ‘cash flow neutral?’ That would be ‘a perfect balance to avoid paying additional income tax.’

  8. Mole Man Says:

Psychos are great, but do you know what really moves property? Adjacent dialysis centers!

  9. madhaus Says:

mabledu, your home isn’t World Reknown enough, because it might be MINUTES from WR Google but is it MINTUES away? I bet none of you have a house MINTUES away from anything. Although I look at my calendar and I see I am MONTUES in the week already.

  10. jb Says:

it’s the three lane entrance into the psych ER that got me. although the listing copy was lovely.

  11. amer_icongrl Says:

But only SECONDS away from the nearest psychiatric emergency room!

  12. mabledu Says:

you’re right. my house is an epic fail.

    WR sigh.

  13. Brian @ Alquilty Says:

Hey hi..i just read your article. it’s really informative. i think you done great work. Thank you for sharing such a nice information.

  14. nomadic Says:

This site still has issues. mabeldu, you mentioned it was down for you all day yesterday; what browser do you use? It was up, working fine for me all day yesterday (Firefox) but I could never access the site at all last night when you guys were posting (Chrome). Might not be browser-related, but it’s one variable.

  15. madhaus Says:

Hi Brian! Thank you so much for your generic spamlicious message! You don’t mind if I remove the URL to your site, do you?

  16. mabeldu Says:

    nomadic – yep, using chrome.

not a big deal, first time i’ve seen that error message. just make it all the more delicious when the site comes back to life.

  17. Sven Anderssen Says:

Very beautiful properties. I think these have been made a little more affordable than others. But is the place any good?

Well, Sven, if you weren’t a spambot you could check them out yourself! I’ve removed that debilitating URL so you can get in the car more easily. –ed.
