UPDATED: Don’t miss the boat in Mountain View!

Okay, have we been telling you that Mountain View is hot, hot, hot?  We have.  And today we have a home in, yes, Mountain View, that wasn’t just sold and didn’t go pending over the weekend.  Or maybe it did, but they hadn’t updated it yet.  What can we say?  RUN do not WALK to get your overbids in!  Thanks very much to Burbed reader dollarbin for yet another Monta Loma medalist!

Updated 12:04: Not in Monta Loma actually.  See below.

Mountain View k-8 schools with-in 2 minutes walk and 5 minutes bicycle ride. Work at Microsoft? Google? Spectra Phsyics? 5 Minute bike ride. Need to get coffee, turn the corner hit StarBucks. You can create a place to call home near everything, far from nothing. Quiet street, awesome neighbors, no cross traffic – this will sell quickly. Don’t miss the boat!

120916-telford-garageHere’s what dollarbin thought about this latest Mountain View dispatch:

This RE agent was so busy spewing hyperbole that he neglected to provide any interior shots.  I think my favorite line is “near everything, far from nothing.”

I’m not versed in RE speak, but is “Negotiate Possession” a warning sign, or does it just mean that there’s rental tenants that you’d have to boot before you move in?

120916-telford-house-numbersWell we think it means “Mountain View is hot, hot, hot! So just because we’re going to sell you this house doesn’t mean we’re moving out any time soon.  Your appreciation will more than pay for your rent somewhere else.”

Do any of our readers have a better idea?

Work at Microsoft? Google? Spectra Phsyics [sic]?  Does anyone still work at Spectra Phsyics?

Updated 12:04: The house is not in the Monta Loma neighborhood (also observed in comments).  Here’s dollarbin with some followup.  Burbed regrets the error on our part.

Small correction, this house is not in Monta Loma, it’s on the wrong side of Rengstorff and the wrong side of Middlefield. It’s the same kind of Mackay and vintage as those built in ML, though.

“Negotiate Possession” = “Demons in the house”

Which immediately translates to, “Cash flow positive from day one.”

  2. Facebook Investor Says:

Quite a qualified agent. Contrary to the usual perception he knows that there is no space between “Star” and “Bucks”.

  3. z2amiller Says:

Telford ave is not really in Monta Loma. There is another little enclave of Eich-Alikes up between Rock and Spring street.

The realtor neglected some of the best benefits of this house. You’re less than a block from the supernova of maturity at Crittenden Middle School. I’m sure it is a quiet street, for the 3 months a year that school is not in session. Also you have Permanente Creek in your backyard, which probably sucks for insurance and flooding reasons, but on the plus side there is the new Permanente Creek Trail which is pretty nice and goes over 101 right there. The 5-minute bike ride to Google/etc is actually not an exaggeration, as opposed to the usual realtor-speak of “Walking distance to downtown!!!!” on houses 5 miles away from it.

“Negotiate Possession” does sound kind of sketchy. At best I guess it is sellers who don’t have their crap together and don’t want to find a new place to live until they’re sure their place has sold. At worst there is some kind of rental situation which seems to be pretty terrifying, given California’s “All Landlords are chiseling slumlords” tenant protections.

This is not in Monta Loma. There are no houses left in ML for this price, not even beauties like this one with white rocks for a front yard.

This listing is written in the literary style of Conan O’Brien’s propmaster Bill Tull:

others have oscars, emmys, obies, tonys, cleos… can’t we start an award ceremony for bad realtor speak? i know there will be a long, long list of nominees, so it’s time to start tracking.

“…near everything, far from nothing.” klasik!!!

maybe the award can be a huge gold plated flea; in respect to a recent flea bag crapshack, so badly infested that you couldn’t even get access inside.

if y’all don’t like the golden flea idea, how about a golden throne with the seat raised in respect?

While discussing this listing with madhaus, she asked what my Over/Under for for how soon this goes pending, this is my analysis:

My over/under? I forgot to note if they had an open house this
weekend, and the interior is a big question mark, but then again who
needs facts when there’s overbidding to get done. I’d put it at about
50% chance that it will be pending by the end of the week, so I’ll
call the under/over 14 days DOM (1 week from today) and I’ll take the
    under. This nearby place:
went pending in 9 days $25K over asking but it was also in move in ready

  8. Crissa Says:

Have yet to meet a landlord who wasn’t a chiseling slumlord, tho.

    That’s a quite slow bike!

It’s just been listed again. Third time’s the charm?

  14. Petsmart groomer Says:

    Pending without release! Booyah!
