Special Debate Edition
It’s that time of year, where we watch a couple of politicians make a series of speeches talking past each other, trying to convince you to vote against the other guy. In honor of last night’s Presidential debate, we have two homes for your consideration. Let us know which one you think is the “winner.”
Wearing the green trim, this house from the powerhouse of Palo Alto is either rolling out the red carpet or sticking its tongue out at you. It confidently flies the Redfin flag.

Zillow Home ID: 19529422Developers Dream! This 2 bedroom 1 bath, home sits on a6,800sqft lot with plenty of potential. Located in a prime location of MountainView with nearby shopping on Castro Street. Looking for a fixer upper Location,Location, Location! Bring your hammer, nails and imagination!
Starr starts out with a trash bin. That’s going to be tough for Addison to counter with just a rented cottage in the back “yard.”
But wait, Addison’s on leased land! Try finding any of that in Mountain View! Even Google hasn’t dared that trick to sneak employee housing by the City Council!
What’s Starr going to do now? Oh, oh, speaking of Google, it’s reaching for teh interwebz, and… here’s the Redfin page!

That one’s going to leave a mark. Streetview trashbins, plus it’s not for sale at any price. And when it was for sale, the asking price was $800,000. That means $762 a square foot, or essentially the same as Addison.
And the winner is… which listing copy interrupted more?

Delightful!
I’d say 54 years in Palo Alto > eternity in Mountain View, that’s RBA math simple and pure. I didn’t realize you could have land lease deals inside city limits, I thought that was something for cabins grandfathered on National Forest land.
October 4th, 2012 at 9:33 am
i vote for neither. isn’t there a house on Nader i can vote for instead?
October 4th, 2012 at 9:43 am
Normally RBA property doubles in value about every 7 years, but in no case later than 10 years. In 10 years what will the selling value of that fine Palo Alto leasehold be?
Also does living in that fine property automatically qualify one for burial within the city limits of Palo Alto? Or is it 54+ years of being a rentard?

Is >700$/sq. ft normal and accepted? Seems so surreal.
October 4th, 2012 at 10:32 am
#4: Welcome to the site! $700/sq ft is a bargain for downtown Palo Alto.

#2 – Everyone knows that a vote for Nader is as good as a vote for Addison.

Welcome to California!

#4,
The sheeple will pay anything to live on the right side of the street in the REAL Bay Area.
October 5th, 2012 at 9:01 am
Speaking of voting, I personally will not vote for any politician who want to impose additional tax on people making over $250K. $250K is not a lot of money in the Bay
Area. People at this income level are middle class folks working 45-60 hours a week to make ends meet. Why should these people bear the burdens to pay for irresponsible spending and wars of choice started George Bush? If there is a real need to raise taxes, let’s be honest about it and tax people across the board.
October 5th, 2012 at 3:23 pm
Of course, you numbnut.
If 500K is not a whole lot of money, then 250K is not even a half lot of money.

When you entertain guests at your house, is anybody going to ask you whether the land is owned or leased?
October 6th, 2012 at 1:42 am
#11 they ask if you are a rentard or pwn3d.
October 6th, 2012 at 11:31 am
The ONLY thing that matters is what other people think. The underlying “investment” and the implications (horrors! you can’t leave the property to your heirs!) suddenly don’t matter at all? That’s f*cked up.

nomadic, let the troll troll.

Starr sold for $950,000 with 10 offers
October 6th, 2012 at 7:03 pm
Or somewhere close to that figure – I do not know the exact details

Let’s just say Mountain View is very bubbly
