121030-vollmer-pumpkinIt’s Halloween!  We’d love to hear what you’re dressed up as today, and what your kids are wearing to their Real Bay Area schools!  But first, the trick.

Burbed reader Tracy Tea House is serving this San Jose special today, and we’ll leave it for you to unwrap.  Remember, Tracy likes Trulia for listings, so you can too.

121030-vollmer-roomHere’s what you get when you ring this doorbell:

Lord Voldemort’s street… This one scares me and the listing croppy is just that, strange and mystifying. Seems like, from the satellite,  there is some kind of evil carnival located on the street behind.

Listing copy?  We see no listing copy here.    Redfin says, menacingly, “There are no remarks available.”  Maybe Lord Voldemort… disposed of it… along with 121030-vollmer-kitchen-redfinthe lot size the agent won’t disclose online. Hint: 6477 sf per Redfin. They also have three completely different photos, including this kitchen as classic “before” snap, and a yard perfect for burying mistakes.

Now here’s a treat: pictures inside the house from three years ago.  Plus an even older listing (nine years! for $388K! with overbidding!), no photos but actual description:

MOTIVATED SELLERS HAVE ALREADY FOUND REPLACEMENT HOME AND READY TO MAKE A DEAL NEW ROOF HAS BEEN DONE WITH GUTTERS * * * TILE KITCHEN, FRENCH DOORS TO BACKYARD CENTRALLY LOCATED TO FREEWAYS AND SHOPPING * * GARAGE CONV. PERMITS UNKNOWN

Like Dr. Frankenstein, we’re digging up pieces all over the place to assemble this monster.  Movoto cached the recent listing description!

I would’ve expected better pictures and a better sales effort for a flip. They are trying to gain 62% appreciation (gross) in five months after all. Zestimate is $322k.

  2. nomadic Says:

LOL, check out the neighbor who lucked out with a giant sales price. Zillow obviously didn’t B.S. check it and created their estimate based on the bad data. ($5457/sf – take that, PA!)

  3. mabeldu Says:

it’s in such a fabulous neighborhood; just off king, near story. why doesn’t it deserve a 62% flip profit? there must be some foreigner with a suitcase full of cash who doesn’t mind being near such a lively area.

nightlife? you got it! ignore those popping sounds, probably just a transformer blowing up. over & over. every night.

  4. nomadic Says:

Geez, where is everyone? Sleeping late after TP’ing houses until the wee hours last night?

  5. madhaus Says:

Maybe the big disaster on the East Coast is making people less likely to snark about crappy houses, since we have like power ‘n stuff. Maybe they’re concerned about family and friends. Unique visitors was down Tuesday compared to Monday, which is not our usual pattern.

Glad you noticed the TPing on night before Halloween photo.

  6. nomadic Says:

Maybe they’re concerned about family and friends.

Too worried share snark with strangers online?

Maybe. Hopefully everyone is safe & sound, even if they are without electricity. There’s one advantage to being from flyover country. No hurricane worries, just the occasional tornado.

  7. mabeldu Says:

i rec’d a note from someone in NJ – 6 houses destroyed in his neighborhood and sharks seen swimming in the streets of a NJ beach town that was submerged. i can’t verify the sharks, but it’s not impossible.

i work w/ lawyers, so i see sharks every day. meh.

  8. madhaus Says:

The sharks are fake. Always check Snopes.
