Two words that don’t go together: Marin and Cheap

121122-blackfridayWe’re continuing our DEALS DEALS DEALS all week long!  As we work our way further and further from our usual comfort zone, we’ll be visiting the entire Bay Area, or at least every county.

Today we stop off at the one with a serious diversity shortage.  Yes, we’re talking Marin County, where diversity means there’s a redhead in your kid’s class.  And we’ve found you the absolute cheapest house in Marin.

1,830 square foot lot. Wow. When someone said they weren’t making any more land, guess whoever owned this property said, “Nuh uh! I’m going to build a bunch of tiny shacks and sell them on 1/9 acre lots and I’ll be rich, rich!”

Now if you want to be rich, rich as well, you had better start buying up property in Marin now.  Because right now certain neighborhoods in San Francisco are ultra-hot with all those well-paid high-tech engineers and social media purveyors and game-engine optimizers.  Now what do you think is going to happen when these people get married and have kids?

121128-ocean-satelliteWell, nothing.  But what do you think is going to happen when their oldest kids start turning four? They’re going to be out the door to the land of Safe Public Schools in time to register for Kindergarten. Watch Marin values skyrocket then.  You read it here first.

Remember, a little of something is better than renting a lot of nothing.  And today’s Black Friday Deal is about as little as you can get.  But it’s a little sliver 600 feet from the beach… and a little less of a walk every day!

that kitchen is sorta equivalent to a red headed stepchild.

Those houses (built in the ’20s on tiny lots) must have been originally sold as weekend cottages for people living in SF. Kind of like the shacks in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

  3. AstroWallaby Says:

I *really* hate to admit it but I genuinely like this shack. Every room in it been lost in time for eighty years. (A few anachronistic lamps and appliances aside, but that’s an easy fix.) If the decimal point were a space or two to the left it’d be hard to find a better place to act out all your dark Dust Bowl-related weekend fantasies.

Anybody who listened to me and bought FB on weakness is raking it in now. It’s funny how the person who is always right is always right.

  5. SEA Says:

Uh, you suggested to buy on weakness at $28.

  6. Real Estater Says:

You’re such a dumb ass, every time. I’m a little tired of it. When it was at $28, I was obviously telling you to buy into weakness ahead. The reason I gave for buying was that FB is a solid company. It’s exactly what you want to do with every stock — look for the right opportunities. In your case, it’s best that you just sit at home reading Burbed all day.

  7. Real Estater Says:

The current Fiscal Cliff drama is another “right opportunity”. Buy into any market weakness. America will not fall into the cliff. Guaranteed.

  8. SEA Says:

    In RBA we trust.

Does anyone believe the bogus crap you spew, other than your grandmother who has alzheimers?

  10. South Bayer Says:

Come on, we all saw RE make that call. Give him some credit.

  11. madhaus Says:

Wow, South Bayer, you have so many different avatars for someone who comments so infrequently. It’s almost as if you keep forgetting your own email address and have to create a new one every time you join us. Why, that long term memory issue would mean you must have hundreds of abandoned accounts all over teh Internets. That must be a challenge.

And yet, there’s something very familiar about you, as if we’ve met before. Perhaps it was at the Sub-Zero dealer or the Porsche showroom? Help me out here.

  12. nomadic Says:

Might have been at Star Bucks.

  13. Real Estater Says:

Just saw this…LOL. #11, are you sure it wasn’t at self-help seminar or liposuction?

  14. SEA Says:

If it was at a self-help seminar, would both personalities show up?

  15. madhaus Says:

#13, why would #10 be at either of those? Do you know something specific about that user?
