Space for 7-14 vehicles, dance or artist’s studio, bowling alley, wrestling etc.

Most of our submissions come to us via email (contact info available in the upper right hand column).  Today’s featured fortress, from the wilds of San Jose Country Club near Santa Teresa del Fuego, was passed on to us via the Bat Signal. A Redfin Forums reader started a new thread and suggested that this home ought to join the Real Bay Area Is Awesome article, better known as What Can You Buy In The Bay Area for $3.3 million?  Well, let’s find out, courtesy of Burbed Reader HomeBuyer25!

Because you know what else this place has? Elegance! Prestige! Why it’s boisting wit’ klayuss! Why? Kawlums!  Everything’s better with kawlums!

Although, not so fast. A look at the property history suggests this place has been on the market a lot more than one day. Or one time.  Take a look at the death throes of someone’s dream:

130327-country-history

130327-country-kawlums2Hey, the price has been going back up for almost a year! Even the short sales show that Bay Area Bubble 4.0 is firmly inflated!  Blurry pictures, Christmas at Easter, more than a 50% haircut with amazing price history going back six years, and if you spent this much money in Palo Alto, there wouldn’t be a kawlum in sight!

Is that #winning or what?

Now, everyone submit your best prediction on what will be the winning overbid!

Six years on and off the market means that there is a huge amount of deferred maintenance.

With that kind of time and no routine maintenance, you start to look at needing new exterior paint (or at least touch ups). You probably have some rust in out of the way places; your venting will probably need large amounts of cleaning, along with all the little things that people living in a house take care of fairly routinely. Somehow I doubt all that has been done.

About the only thing this house has going for it is a lack of wear and tear. I wonder when the bank will finally capitulate.

So what’s the deal with that sale for $10,000 back in 2000?

  3. madhaus Says:

One other thing this house has going for it: if nobody ever lived in it, then nobody ever died in it either.

  4. sonarrat Says:

That sale in 2000 is for the bare land. The house wasn’t built for 6 years after that. I’m going to hazard a guess that the slope of the lot is the reason why it was so cheap. Talk to your friendly local builder about how you build on a lot that slopes unevenly from one corner to the other.

7 bedrooms and 8.5 bathrooms? Now that’s what I’m talking about!! Definitely catering to today’s RBA buyer, who needs a minimum of 1 bath per bedroom. I’m sure this will be snapped up quickly, even if it wasn’t designed by some famous architect.

tag line on the Silver Creek CC web site “Perfecting the Art of Fun for the Silicon Valley Lifestyle”…

Man, is this thing ever on the ass-end of San Jose. You can buy a nice place in Woodside, Palo Alto, LAH, etc for those prices. Seriously delusionally overbuilt.

  8. SEA Says:

Each kawlum should be worth $100k in overbidding, and a 600A electrical service will allow you to run a very large grow operation.

  9. Kim Says:

The best part is the google view from above. You couldn’t squeeze much more house onto much less of a lot. Ugh.

  10. Real Estater Says:

    What’s up with the HOA?

  11. Elevator Companies Says:

    Hello,
I am agree to Kim best part is Google view from above nice post…….

We am agree to Kim best part is your URL view in India oops deleted…… –ed.

  12. SiO2 Says:

RE, there’s an HOA in this area. it’s a gated community, and there’s a rec center with a pool and stuff like that. So I guess that’s what the $120/mo is for.

SFBB, I agree with you. my $3.5m (theoretically) would go for a smaller place in Palo Alto, Los Altos, or Saratoga. 13K sq ft house, that’s a lot. I’d rather have 4k sq ft in one of these other towns.

This community is definitely nice, but the commute, ugh. plus, going out to retail is a hassle. It’s definitely a bonus for a committed golfer who joins the golf club, it would be convenient for a few holes after work.

wow they have a dance studio to? This house is amazing.

  14. Patient Attendant for Hospital In Pune Says:

It has all the entertainment facility so why don’t we called it as a Studio or entertainment House??

    Is It A spam???
It has all the entertainment facility so why don’t called it as a Studio or entertainment spam?? Better yet, why don’t we called it as a URL DELETED??? –ed.
