Priced to Sell! In Crockett!

Why would any real estate professional use the phrase “priced to sell”? How many homes listed for sale are actually priced to not sell? Here’s one in Crockett that says the agent took the trouble to let you know about it so he could collect a commission… unlike every other house on the MLS.

With a little TLC this home could really shine. .. .. 4 bedroom home with 2 bathrooms in a split level style. Cozy and easy flowing with a 1 car garage and 2 parking pads. There is a nice yard and filtered views. Priced to sell!!

130925-bay-glowEasy flowing? There’s a leak in the bathroom?

While the house doesn’t merit the Burbed cozy tag (that’s for homes under 1,000 square feet), the land earned the tiny lot award (under 5,000 sf).

We have a theory why this house isn’t selling (77 days on Redfin) and it isn’t the lucky datestamp in the corner. No, it’s the dual poltergeists in the doorways.

Do you see a “Not Haunted” sign in front of this house? Well, do you?

We don’t even want to ask what “filtered views” are.  Filtered through all the ghosts?

Note the narrow doorway eith no molding on the left side – maybe you have to be made of ectoplasm to squeeze through.

I met a guy who lived in Crockett. He said it was ok, except for too many icers. So I had to ask what that meant, and learned that it’s people using meth. I guess I live a sheltered life.

After posting my comment #2, I got a cloudflare error. The comment posted but there’s something going on with cloudflare.

Intermittent problems, hard to replicate. The best kind.

#3, hard to replicate??? Bwahahahahaha. Happens about 75% of the time for me with Chrome. Maybe 10% on iPhone Safari.

Of course the realtor wants a commission, it is how they make their living… selling houses. Sounds like this realtor is trying to sell this house is all.

So how do you connect an house that doesn’t sell quickly with all this nonsense about ghosts? Crockett has a rich history, maybe it has its share of ghosts too. But make believe aside, most home buyers in the bay area right now are are young techies and investors who want to be close to San Francisco whereas this house is in a tiny town that is considered geographically isolated. Leave alone the fact that the house clearly needs “TLC”. No wonder it didn’t sell.

Possible reasons people might think this house is haunted: Over a period of less than three years (June 2010 throught February 2012) three people died in this house. One of the deaths was due to “natural causes” and the other two were suicides. One of the people who committed suicide claimed to have been able to hear the sound of a baby crying in the house and believed that it was the spirit of a baby that had died in this house sometime in the past (it’s unknown if a baby ever actually died in this house).

Both of the suicides were directly related to mental illness and repeated failed attempts at self medication.

I’ve been inside this house many times, both before and after the three recent deaths that occured, and I have never seen or heard anything that would indicate the presense of ghosts or potergeists.

As for the strange “half door” seen in the photo; this is nothing more than the result of a fly-by-night remodeling job done by one of the former owners who was intent upon making a quick flip.

To summarize: This is a nice house that is long overdue for a responsible owner.

  8. Davilo Says:

Spelling correction: “presence” (like the Led Zeppelin album).

  9. Devin Says:

    Some more typo corrections:

“June 2010 throught February 2012” should be “June 2010 through February 2013” (two corrections).

The word “potergeists” should be “poltergeists” (although it’s certainly possible that there are “potergeists” residing in this house).

Note to self: it’s always a good idea to run a spell check before posting an online comment.
