Great investment opportunity as a rental/rebuild. Excellent location! Within 2.5 miles from Facebook, Stanford, and downtown Palo Alto. Short drive to Googleplex, and good schools. This is a Trustee sale. Trustee would prefer to sell 421 & 419 Pope Street together.

Wow, let’s check out this great opportunity!

Aren’t cantilevered sinks all the rage right now? This house was ahead of the times!

Frankly, I’m just glad to see that Menlo Park real estate has finally reached a reasonable price.

How long do you think this will stay on the market for? 7 days? 30 days?

What will you do when you buy this house? Rebuild? rent out? rebuild and then rent out?

@BobZandi: why are you so desperate to market Marin? It’s way off into the weeds – perhaps a decent place for retired people and tourists. But Silicon Valley is where is where the sausage is made, like Menlo Park: they have Facebook. And look: Menlo Park is so desirable that an apartment sized house (with cute landscaping, love the mature tree/bush/… what is that?! next to the front door) fetches a cool 2 million!

This just leaves any sane person speechless. If this isn’t proof of a bubble–who cares, why waste the energy even thinking of this idiocy. The Real Bay Area is hopeless……

Really…$2m for a teardown on a flag lot in the Willows?? Maybe it’s for both lots? If they pull it off for just the one lot, I’d be shocked… but it wouldn’t be for the first time.

bubbladoo, that green thing is what I would call a shrub-on-a-stick. Or a bush kabab.

Here’s one in Palo Alto a few houses in from the train tracks, fetched greater than $3000 per square foot:
