Which photo of this million dollar Redwood City house looks better?

I probably should’ve posted these a few days earlier… but nonetheless this is still rather interesting:

Well, what’s wrong with this house you might be wondering? After all, it looks pretty good. The garage is even a little sunken – that’s kind of neat.

Well… let’s take a look at a slightly different picture:

Wow. What a difference. I’m not photography expert, so I’d love some professional input here, but this is rather interesting. From a mini-mansion, this house now looks like it’s built for people like Yao-ming: Tall and skinny. Which is a good thing! After all, who doesn’t want to reduce their footprint on this beautiful planet of ours. 2100 sqft – of very skinny sqft. Maybe they should’ve used a new unit of measurement for this house!

Also, notice the difference in colors. What’s up with that? Any color experts here?

Is the second one, which I believe is the Realtor preferred one, better? Or worse?

Regardless, this is now $50k off – so it’s a great deal no matter which picture you like more. Go get it!

CELEBRITY FAME! This house in Redwood City could make you a millionaire!

477 Topaz St, Redwood City
$585,000

* Status: Active
* Bedroom: 2
* Bathroom: 1
* Year Built: 1952
* Lot Size: 2625
* Square Footage: 700
* List Date: 4/3/2008
* Garage Spaces: 1
Charming cottage is move-in ready. This well-maintained home is absolutely spotless with many updates throughout. Fully remodeled kitchen has granite counters and custom tile; all stainless appliances with gas stove, microwave, dish washer and refrigerator. Furnace is 2 years old and water heater is 1 year old. Front and back yards are gorgeous. Dual-paned windows throughout.Price reduced to sell.

Why did I pick this house to feature? After all, there’s nothing wrong with with it. It’s just your usual
$835 per square foot house in the geographic Bay Area.

Here’s what long time Burbed reader Jeff had to say when he sent this in a few weeks back:

477 Topaz St. is the least expensive home in Mt. Carmel, and for that matter the entire 94062 ZIP code which also encompasses Woodside. I rented an apartment on Topaz so I’m quite familiar with this area.. it’s attractive, and Red Morton Park is nice, but John Gill is only a so-so school and you get a lot of drunks riding their motorcycles around at 3 am.

So far so good. It’s $835, has lots of bikers passing by, but shares a great zip code.

But wait, there’s more!

Last sold in 2005 for $550K. That’s some sweet appreciation! I googled the address and the results were enlightening:

http://jasondickinson.com/MyResume.html

It’s official: Redwood City is the place to be if you win big on a game show.

That’s right! This house was owned by a high school teacher who ended up winning $250,000 on Who Wants to Be a Millionare? in 2000!

Wowsers!

No wonder this house is going for $835 per square foot. It’s like buying a house that George Washington or Dennis Rodman slept in. You can’t put a price on fame like that.

And, even better, buying this house is like being on the show – except you’re guaranteed to win when the price doubles in a few years!

A house is a man’s castle – just add a moat in Redwood City

96 Buckingham Ave, Redwood City 94063

$609,000

* Status: Active
* Bedroom: 3
* Bathroom: 2
* Year Built: 1924
* Lot Size: 3360
* Square Footage: 1000
* List Date: 4/9/2008
* Garage Spaces: 2

* MLS#: 800694
Completely remodeled. Open kitchen with granite counters and stainless appliances. Kitchen overlooks dining area and living room. Remodeled bathrooms. Convenient inside laundry area. Detached 2-car garage. Nice lawn and deck. This is not a short sale!

They say that a man’s house is a man’s castle. This Redwood City house clearly emphasizes that point. Driving by you might wonder “Is that a mini-Costco?” – but then you see the turrets on top and realize “Wow, it’s someone’s castle in Redwood City!”.

You know what this really needs? A moat.

A moat filled with sharks with lasers. Oh yes, how awesome that would be. And of course the requisite drawbridge.

Then you’d really have a Costco Castle.

And it makes sense – after all you live on Buckingham. What’s more fitting for you – The King Owner?

Square Footage: 1020
No. of Bedrooms: 3

Hey wait a minute… this sounds familiar! Now I remember!

Very very clever!

You see, buy using a ludicrous starting bid like $179,000 approximately 1 million people will show up to with cash and Google stock in hand to buy this house.

Having just been sold on 9/4/2007 for $464,120, and a Zestimate of $535,500, I predict this house will easily clear for $535,500.

What do you think this Hurlingame house will clear for?

FANTASTIC RANCH HOME IN CONVENIENT AREA. CLOSE TO SHOPPING, TRANSPORTATION. HARDWOOD FLOORS, DETACHED GARAGE AND PLENTY OF YARD AREA. READY FOR YOUR BUYERS! WON’T LAST LONG AT THIS PRICE!

Wow… this color sure beats the house from December 2006 that the Queen of England was looking at:

http://www.burbed.com/2006/12/20/redwood-city-house-is-fit-for-a-queen/

Robin’s Egg Blue, or Kool-Aid Purple.

I’m guessing Kool-Aid purple would be better, after all it can attract the youth. Also, I’m a bit surprised that the add didn’t call out the giant apartment complex next door – just think about how much the shadow will reduce your cooling costs. And the metal gate on the door? Uh… that’ll keep your house cool too because you can leave the front door open.

You do want to live green don’t you?

Charming doll house very well maintained, granite tile counter tops in kitchen area. Walking distance to Target Regency Shopping Center, Bus & train station. 2nd bedroom converted into a Livingroom. A must see, make offer before it’s gone!!!

I like it when the ads are really modest. For example, this ad completely overlooks this glamor shot:

Let’s face it, this house is quite simply an amazing deal. $300k. For a house. Near the Real Bay Area.

I mean, how can you seriously beat this?

Don’t forget, it last sold in 2005 for $485k! If you’re lucky enough to buy this at the list price (prepare to overbid!), that’s $186k in instant equity. What are you waiting for?

Come on bubbleheads… work with me. You wanted a bubble burst, here it is!

Beautiful cozy home for a big family…
Beautiful 2 stories, 3 Bed and 2 1/2 bath , close to freeways, dual paned win crown moldings, new painting, new pergo floors, one car carport, sprinkle system,beautiful landscaping.

Personally, I can’t think of a better way to show off beautiful landscaping, aside from having a giant Ford Thunderbird parked on the grass.

Really, it’s beautiful, a true celebration of what makes California so special – the perfect co-coexistence between car and nature.

It brings a tear to my eye. As does the lighting in the ceiling of the carport.

Great!! starter townhome, Walking distance to schools, restaurants and stores. Huge bedrooms, 3rd bedroom was nicely built in one of the two garages (unwarrented). Patio in back for bar-b-ques. Must see! property has alot of square footage for the price.

No kidding! That other garage is a bedroom? All this time I thought the window was so that my car could have a view – after all, you know those Californians and their cars!

But it turns out its for people! Aw shucks. Poor car.
