BLACK FRIDAY DEALS: Cheapest House in San Bruno

The DEALS, DEALS, DEALS don’t stop.  Or maybe they will stop if readers don’t comment or at least uprate these entries.  And use the thumbs down if you think you’ve seen enough of these.

Why is Burbed abandoning the rich vein of crapboxes in Santa Clara County?  Because we’ve been neglecting North San Mateo County for a very long time, needlessly.  This has always been a terrific location if you’re looking for Burbed housing win.  The County of San Mateo’s foreclosure report even said so.

From January‐July 2011, East Palo Alto, Brisbane, South San Francisco, and Daly City led in pre‐foreclosure rates in the county.

Thanks, Foreclosure Report people, we’ll be sure to check out those other places on your list too.  And San Mateo looks like it’s winning big on instant equity!

See, this place is a win right away!  What kind of house won’t show you the outside, and for the one interior shot picks the bathroom?

But that driveway is surprisingly oil-spot free!  “Bunus:” Close to freeway, too!

Come see this property for yourself. Lots of potential. Combo lock box ready to view as of 1/25/2011. Call Ali Hasnain/ Vana (650) 299-9009 for viewing and short sale iinformation

Well, I guess I have no choice but to see this property for myself, since the listing photo is both tiny and flipped horizontally.

Here’s what the photo may actually look like:

I like how this has been on Redfin for a while now, but the combo lock box has only been ready since last month. It goes to show how swamped our Realtors are – the market must be superhot!

Great potential for a unique home in a fantastic neighborhood. Legal studio unit in rear yard. Roof top view off Master bedroom suite.

Thanks to Burbed reader sonarrat for this find.

Any architectural gurus in the audience today? This strikes me like a Tudor house, but can it be called that when it is in San Bruno? And why does this kind of house exist in San Bruno anyway?

So many questions… but what a great find. If you ignore than small square footage intentional typo. I’m guessing it was intentional to draw your attention to the house. Another great real estate marketing strategy!

REO, bank owned single family home located in a quiet neighborhood. Great house for first-time home buyer. Located within minutes to Downtown San Bruno, the San Francisco International Airport, public transportation and all the major highways! Happy House Hunting!

Let’s call it – housing is now affordable in the Bay Area, as evidenced by this San Bruno house.

First time home buyers? Welcome home.

Let’s take a look at some other included pictures:

169a

Hey first time home buyer – are you feeling the pride of ownership swelling yet? And the best part – it’s only 550 per square foot. You can totally furnish this using the model at Ikea!

More importantly, at $544 per square foot, you can proudly tell all your friends, co-workers, and family members about how expensive it is. They’ll be in awe of you. Especially the renters.

And isn’t that the most important part of being a homeowner?

There’s a saying: Buy the worst house in the best neighborhood.

But here in the Bay Area, we’re used to being rebels, being innovative, and doing things differently. What better way than to buy a house with fine Italian marble, a gorgeous backyard sanctuary with built in BBQ, and other stunning upgrades here in San Bruno. Your neighbors will simply die of envy.

Let’s also give credit where its due – to the Realtor for being upfront about how easy it will be to get to freeways and SFO. Let’s take a look at the map:

And look at just how affordable this is. At this price point, you’ll be competing with flight attendants from around the world who will want to stake their claim in having a house in the Bay Area. With fine Italian marble.

Thanks to sonarrat for sending this in a while back ago.

If this isn’t the sign of a market bottom, I don’t know what is. Come on… just $395,000 for a single family home? If this isn’t a steal, I don’t know what is! Let’s ignore the fact for a minute that it is $541 per square foot. Let’s also ignore those bold exterior colors that this part of San Mateo is so famous for. Instead, let’s look at some of the interior pics that are meant to dazzle and attract you:

Wow. Now Burbed isn’t always a big fan of staging, but this staging job is absolutely amazing. Just looking at this makes me feel like I am at home already. What? Don’t you envision your potential house with a hard side suit case on the bed? Or a bed where everything in the headboard will kill you in a 2.1 earthquake?

Excellent job listing agent! Excellent job!

I’m no architect – but something looks a bit odd about this house

820 2nd Ave, San Bruno 94066
$448,000

* Status: Active
* Bedroom: 2
* Bathroom: 1
* Year Built: 1942
* Lot Size: 2500
* Square Footage: 780
* List Date: 3/6/2008
* Garage Spaces: 1
* MLS#: 782766
*
Cozy 2bed home; skyligths; crown mouldings; triple pane windows; roof 2 years old (per seller); insulated attic. Convenient and large workshop/storage room at the backyard. Nice curb appealing.

Now frankly, there’s nothing terribly wrong with this house. 780 square feet – $448,000. $574 per square foot. 2 blocks away from Caltrain and 380. Normal.

But something about this picture just doesn’t seem right to me. It reminds me of the drawings that children make of people – where there’s no neck or torso – often just a giant head with appendages.

But then again, I’m no architect. Could this be an example of how I’ve fallen behind the times? Could this be the Facebook of houses, with all the other ones being Friendster? Is this the future of houses?

And what exactly is it that’s wrong with this picture? I can’t quite put my finger on it…

Any architects (or architect-wannabe’s) here on Burbed that want to comment on this house?

2006: $600k. 2008: $300k. 2010? Affordable housing in San Bruno

1058 Montgomery Ave, San Bruno 94066 (Live Oak)
$299,900

* Status: Active

* Bathroom: 1
* Year Built: 1948
* Lot Size: 2500

* List Date: 5/2/2008

* MLS#: 806475

Description of 1058 Montgomery Ave, San Bruno
Great value for the price. Cozy home for small family or investor. Needs some work and TLC . Priced to sell. Property will be sold ” as is” Seller will not pay for home warranty or survey. Located near Freeway and Airport and local industrial area.

This house sold in 2006 for $600,000. Now it’s on the market for $299,900. Now granted, we don’t know how overbid this house will get – it could get pretty crazy, but still I have feeling it might not clear $600k.

And if that happens, that’s fantastic for you – you whiny buyer always complaining that real estate is unaffordable! Finally, here is your chance to get in before the Fall Bounce takes place. Once that happens, the lucky owner of this house, who will have amazing access to 380 will see up to $300k of instant equity. Just look at how close it is South San Francisco, the city of industry and the heart of biotech!

Didn’t you hear? San Bruno is the next up and comer. And all it needs is a little work and it’ll be set for move in:

Sweet! It even comes with a fridge in the garage! Especially with food prices going where they are today, this is a great opportunity for you to stock up as well!

It’s only a matter of time before the next big blockbuster drug comes out to finally solve Restless Leg Syndrome – and you know it’s going to be from the Bay Area. When that happens: boom. You will be one friggin’ rich San Bruno homeowner. What are you waiting for?

PRICE REDUCED!! Charming Cottage in convenient San Bruno location. Three beds, one bath, hardwood floors. Close to schools,shopping & transport. Escrow w/ First American Title. Great Opportunity!!

The alternative title for this entry was “Count the doors!” – after all, just check out that funky garage. But what I really like how this house shares a wall with the next house. I wonder if they have windows on that side – it’d be pretty funny.

Located across the street from San Francisco Airport, this house really is close to shopping and transport. Personally, if I were the Realtor, I would’ve added “Great restaurants nearby” which is true – have you been to the international terminal at SFO – they’ve got some great choices there!

Oh, according to Zillow this last sold in 2005 for $675,000 – and let’s face, it everyone knows it’s a buyer’s market right now. It’s going to flip to a seller’s market immediately after the big bounce after the SuperBowl – so if you buy this now, you have $186,000 of instant equity!

You can use that money to fly fly flyyyyyyyyyyy away! Sweet!
