Three bedrooms, two bathrooms upstairs with an in-law unit down (not warranted). Remodeled kitchen. Updated bathrooms. Beautiful city views. Two car side by side garage. Quiet cul-de-sac location.

120614-clayton-viewWe didn’t even know that there was more than one Blossom Valley, let alone a Blossom Valley with City Lights views.  And there are indeed City Lights views in the first picture, thanks to the glare off the car in the driveway.

Wonder why the listing copy isn’t screaming “Views! Views! Views!”  Because this one ought to be adding another $150K to the asking price.

And we meant it about the big lot.  Take a look!

And check out the listing history!  This house could be the basis of its own soap opera.

Finally, it’s about time we ran another pink house in honor of our founder’s taste in paint.

Don’t Just Sing Folk Songs, Live in One!

Here’s another flipping find from the Redfin Bay Area forums, thanks to Lysistrata. Wow, talk about a convenient location, upgraded kitchen, and generous oversized lot!  Too bad a flipper got to it ahead of you! Now you have to pay a premium to live here!

Reduced! Just remodeled, this 3 bed 2 bath home boasts an updated kitchen, stainless steel appliances, new hardwood floors, a new furnace, recessed lighting, and fresh paint inside and out. With an open, inviting floor plan and landscaped front and rear yards, this beautiful home just steps to the ocean is not to be missed! Close to Northridge Park, shopping and freeway access for an easy commute!

imageHardwood, granite, and stainless may await inside, but the real surprise will be finding out who would pay for them given where this house is located!  No wonder the first picture is the kitchen rather than the front yard, but we’re sure you want to see the exterior shots.  In fact, we insist!

Convenient to San Francisco and I-280, this house is perfect for the two-income couple, one with the trendy creative class career in SoMa and the other with an equally high-powered position in Silicon Valley!  Perfect, that is, as long as you never let your colleagues know where you sleep at night.

imageFace it, you should have snapped this opportunity up and sold it to one of your less-entrepreneurial associates.  But there’s hundreds more just like it up and down the street, and all the other streets, so don’t despair!

And “steps to the ocean”?  Looks like about 500 steps.  Anyone know how easy it is to step down that sea cliff?  There is nearby Thornton Beach State Park if you head somewhat north (more than a few 500s of steps), but dang, the state has closed it.

image

Malvina Reynolds wrote a song in 1962 that epitomized the blandness of tract-house suburbia, built from shoddy construction materials.  What place inspired this classic folk song (called the most sanctimonious song ever by no less than Tom Lehrer)?  Was it Levittown, New York?

Hell, no, this was an authentic Bay Area composition, triggered by Westlake in Daly City.  Now you can live in the very place that inspired a folk song!

imageThere’s a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one,
And they’re all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

LISTEN

And Live the Ticky Tacky Life!

REGULAR SALE !!!! NO WAITING ; -) !!, come see this 2 bedrooms , 1 bathroom upstairs plus 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom downstairs (unwarranted). One block from Mission Street, walking distance to BART and Bus Stations. If you; re tired of waiting !!!

Thanks to Burbed reader sonarrat for this find.

Wow, the investment opportunities keep pouring in. This house comes witn an unwarranted (meaning you don’t really deserve it) 2br/1ba downstairs for you to rent out. Cha-ching!

Of course this probably means you’ll never be able to park your car anywhere… but, hey, revenue trumps everything.

There’s a few other things I love about this listing:

1. The smiley face. It tells you Gen-Y/millennials that the Realtor gets you. He speaks your language. LOL OMG!

2. The yellow and blue house next door. Wow. How awesome would to live next door to that. If you’re a Cal fan you can say it is Bear pride. If you’re a Farm fan, then you can… uh… say that you don’t live in that house. Either way you win!

This 3 bdrm 1 ba is a must see! Remod kit w/ custom cabinets, tile counter tops, ceramic floors w/ new lighting fixtures. Remodeled bathroom. Wood floors refurnished. Fireplace in living room. Buyers are responsible for $75 doc fee due @ close of escrow. Any offers or counter offers by Indymac bank are not binding unless entire aggrmnt is ratified by partners. Offers to be submitted by 5pm on 6/12.

All the time you hear people demand greater transparency. Well this house offers it. Now, you as the buyer won’t be left wondering “Gosh, who will be paying the $75 doc fee.”

Yes, I know. This could be a potential deal breaker. Sure it is 1.82e-4 of the purchase price, but still – money is money!

So cheers to the listing agent for making this clear. Cheers to the fact that the bank it mentions doesn’t really exist. Cheers to this gerat opportunity to live in a house in Daly City that looks a lot like a shipping container.

Cheers all around!

very close to public tranportation, freeway 280,shopping center, bart 2 bedrooms 1 full bath and kitchen. now rental $1700.00 month to month.seller will carry 2nd

So right now this rents out for $1700 a month. Now, you could rent it, or you could buy it for $499. $499000/(1700*12) is only 24! That’s a pretty good ratio don’t you think?

Not only that, but the seller will carry the mysterious 2nd.

Frankly, this is a fantastic investment opportunity if you ask me. It’s all about cashflow, and cash will be flowing for sure. Wouldn’t you agree?

Oh. My. God.

Yellow house, you still have me at hello.

SFGate: Bay Area is too Expensive. Burbed:Bay Area is too Affordable [Burbed.com]

The other day, a commenter named Martin posted this (edited) comment:

SFGate: Bay Area is too Expensive. Burbed:Bay Area is too Affordable [Burbed.com]
Look at this house:
http://www.movoto.com/real-estate/homes-for-sale/CA/Daly-City/1125-Hanover-St-100_728944.htm

I selected a decent house in Daly City. It costs $514,900. Other houses before this one I consider a junk.
Sorted by price from low to high. So, it’s 9th, out from 339.

[snip]

A tiny amount has a household income above 150k.

So, what can justify this kind of house pricing???!
Why it costs so much and who can afford it???!
Daly City is a dirty neighborhood with a worst weather on a peninsula.

I wouldn’t buy this house even for 100k!

Let’s look at the house he found:

 1125han.jpg

Hey that looks familiar!

Why, it’s from the famous “Yellow house that had me at hello” post from back in August…

And the original post back in January:

Wow! What a wild year it’s been!

Come on Martin – this house has already been reduced 39%. Buy it! It was meant for you!
