UPDATED: All of the structures are in deplorable condition

We appreciate listing copy that tells it like it is.  Don’t let frank talk like this scare you: this is an opportunity!  And you can’t beat the price. Thanks to Michael Boltonestater for this palace of possibilities in Palo Alto!

Update 3/7/2012: Added additional comments from Gallileo, who also sent this house in.

Perfect for the client looking for an opportunity to get into the Palo Alto market at the low end – to use their own talents to develop. This property has been abandoned for years and all of the structures are in deplorable condition. Located in a very convenient neighborhood of nice homes.

Whoa, that is one friendly looking house.  I bet all the neighborhood kids play here, or at least dare each other to step on the lawn.  Here’s what Gallileo had to say about the place:

A house in Palo Alto for Not a Lot of Money

120307-park-streetviewPalo Alto finally goes affordable! Yes, you too can buy a house for not a lot of money. You only need 100K down and your Facebook salary will cover that without even waiting for the IPO.

Sure, the house has been abandoned for years and all the structures are in deplorable condition, but with a little draino and a couple of light-bulbs (total cost: $47.98), you’ll be right back enjoying that 7% annual appreciation that everyone in this most real of the real bay area gets. 94306 never left the RBA! Its even close to public transportation–very public transportation.

Oh come on, everyone loves trains!  Now let’s have a good look at that very convenient neighborhood.

Convenient all right!  Walk to the Mercedes dealer… and Fry’s! Plus “bunus” PG&E substation across the street.

Today we have a guest post from a new contributor!  Please welcome Burbed reader Sierra Cyd to the front page, with some super selling snaps for this Sunnyvale spectacular!  I know we already did Sunnyvale this week, but that house was a Holiday Special.  Come to think of it, most of the homes featured on Burbed are pretty Special.

Enjoy today’s home, and give Sierra Cyd a big, warm, Real Bay Area welcome as today’s guest poster.

LENDER APPROVED SS @ $420k! Excellent property w opportunity to rent other unit. Property in need of some repairs but just use your imagination and some work and you got yourself a good investment.

120220-maude-apartmentThe reason I’m sending this listing in is not because it is a perfect RBA house, a mere 20 minute flat bike ride from Apple, 15 minute ride to Google, 10 minute ride to Yahoo, and easy walk to HP and other high tech, but because of the realtor’s excellent work in taking pictures from as many angles as possible of the rugged, heavy duty wrought iron fence and gate that “protect” the small, paved front yard. Including, I 120220-maude-fence-gatemight point out, the lovely view of the 60’s era apartment buildings across the street. What could possibly make a potential buyer more ready to wear a bullet proof vest to see the property?

120220-maude-fence-suvI guess maybe the idea is that what’s inside is so wondrous that it is too good for pictures, and obviously this fence is required for protection. I’m thinking diamond encrusted kitchen, etc.  I’m not sure. Really, this realtor deserves a reward for marketing. I bet they have had hoards of people pounding down the door on this one in the past 6+ months it has been listed.

120219-america-kitchenWow, what’s not to love about this house?  A Pergo type floor!  Upadted door and some windows!  Close to transportaions!  And the garage was converted, of course!

Wrap it all up in a white picket fence and you’ve got the perfect little starter home!  Cute, charming, and you’ve also got a Redfin agent who has toured this house 3 times and has something to share about it.

It must be able this awesome kitchen and its Pergo type floor!

Hey wait a minute, haven’t we seen this house before?

And back in 2007, we had seen this house before then!

This house definitely is everything that is America!  Prices that go up, and prices that spell opportunity!  A listing history that includes at least one foreclosure and one seriously WTF selling price!  Architectural design that suggests Monticello while staying within a budget!

If you do not buy this house, you must hate America and everything it stands for.  You terrorist.

This house is ready for a Valentines Day date

If you’ve been a long-time reader of this blog, you may remember that burbed (our founder and long-time content creator) had this thing for pink houses.  So the site occasionally would dig up a pink house for Valentines Day.  This year, we found an even better listing for celebrating a day for lovers.  It’s all set up for a Special date you won’t forget!  Many thanks to Burbed reader The Maggadads for this fantastic find from Fremont!

Mission schools! 12,110 sq. ft. lot, 1-story. $50k spent on 2011 remodeling kitchen, baths, carpet, tile, french doors & lighting, dual pane, AC & backyard. Built-in 50’s Diner theme- pool cabana/antique western town, 6-car garage w/ 1/2 bath, pool w/ water fall, new lawn & sprinklers. Not a REO/SS!

120212-jackson-dinerHere’s what The Maggadads thought of this place with $50K spent on 2011 remodeling:

I just started reading your blog. Although I take a minor offense to the jabs you poke at Fremont, I couldn’t help but send you this listing.

I’m not sure which is cooler…the 50s themed diner or the western-themed fence. At least it has a 6-car garage!

120212-jackson-western-fenceWait, let me check, is this a house for sale, or a commercial property?  Because while it’s always good to have a space for entertaining a crowd, a 50s themed diner wasn’t exactly at the top of my list in must-haves for an 1,800 square foot house.

But a 50s themed diner AND a western themed fence, both!  I can die now.  What a Valentines Day you’ll have!  And if your date isn’t successful, one of you can retire to the six-car garage.

Well, this is one of those good news/better news situations.  The good news is yes indeed, this house is in a 100% residential district and there is no danger that one of your neighbors will be opening up a 40s themed diner to compete with yours (and incidentally use up all the street parking).  The better news is, well, location, location, location!

A fence for the 99% in South San Francisco

South San Francisco, CA 94080

This house isn’t actually that bad – I mean, it’s only $457 per square foot. And look, it’s got a “separate” storage room. Sure it looks like it’s slightly leaning in the photo, but you’ll be enjoying views of that pole for years to come.

And, check out this fence:

117 FRANKLIN Ave, South San Francisco, CA 94080

You don’t want a fence that says “I’m 1%”. You want a fence that says “I’m 99%”. And this, my friends, is that fence.

Best. Street name. Ever.

imageI was looking at the San Jose Mercury News’ (motto: We Were Once a Newspaper!  Really!) city homicide map, wondering if it would lead to any particular real estate bargains. Like maybe there’s a neighborhood full of low prices but no unnecessarily dead neighbors.

Anyway, If you click on the little blue map pins, an information box pops up with more details on each crime.  Then I saw this.

OMFG. While this hood may not be where your typical High Functioning Autistic Engineer wants to live… can you BELIEVE that streetname? I couldn’t either. So let’s examine a typical property for sale on a short block that’s long on GEEK WIN.

This IS A Great property! While it requires some TLC it is located in a terrific neihborhood with a great lot!

imageAt these prices, cash in some Apple, Google, or Facebook stock options and you could buy up the entire block.

Heck, you could probably afford to build your own monorail from your high tech job to this awesome sauce street name.

Really.  I’m so speechless I’ll let you Burbed readers critique the damned HOUSE.

Can you imagine what this place would have sold for if it hadn’t been an insider deal?  The mind boggles.

And. THIS:

You may well be looking at one of the few properties where the Streetview shot is demonstrably better than the realtard’s offering, and I’m spotting him the garbage bins.

It’s unfortunate city planners didn’t put this street a few miles northeast, closer to Reid-Hillview Airport, so you could own a Silicon Valley house at the corner of White and Nerdy.

Short sale approved at this price. Large remodeled home with nice touches. Maple cabinets, granite counters, pergo flooring. Great price for this much square footage. Outside needs works in the back. Great Opportunity!!!

See, even the bank knows this one will be selling shortly, so they raised the asking price after the last contract fell through!  I bet those bank vice-presidents know some people on the bridge committee, too!  It really is all about who you know, and this one’s going to be selling for a thousand a square foot real soon now!  Don’t you want to be able to tell your friends that you snagged it at $198 a foot?  Of course you do! Hurry, before something happens in the back, like your worst enemy closing on this place before you can pick up the phone!

This is a no-brainer, everyone!  It’s in Belle Haven, and you know anything French is just tojours l’amour to rich people!  I bet it even includes a free staircase inside!

Cheapest House in East Palo Alto

Black Friday’s been over for weeks, but the DEALS continue!  And today’s house has something for everyone.

939 E Bayshore Rd, East Palo Alto, CA 94303

SQ. FT.: 1,510
$/SQ. FT.: $119

This is an actual HOUSE with four bedrooms and two baths, and it costs so little Redfin won’t represent you in the transaction.  Plus you’re only a couple miles from Facebook HQ, at an asking price more suited to Wal-Mart Greeter wages.  (With a $36,000 down payment, a 30 year fixed at four and a half percent will run $730 a month.)  What’s not to like?

Let’s see why the agent didn’t take the time to drive by and snap a photo for us.  First: location, location, location means E-Z Freeway Access!

That big 4500 foot lot needn’t suffer when you build your own freeway onramp across the street.  Now, let’s admire the house you can pick up for less than the cost of a Virgin Galactic ticket or a Prive mobile phone.

Perfect!  And Patriot Properties is the “Number One REO Broker in the Bay Area!”  We must be at the right place, because I bet there’s a 1906 REO in that garage.  So I wouldn’t worry that Google disavows any connection with this property (see upper right).

Here are a couple more views.  This one is a little further north up Saratoga (which is a much classier street name than Bayshore, and you get this upgraded street name included in the low, low price).

This view is slightly south of the first photo, as you approach Bay Road.  It’s great that the seller has helpfully included a high-quality fence with this aggressive pricing.  And given the dynamics of this exciting neighborhood, you’re going to be glad it’s there!

I hope you like having neighbors close by, because in this case, it’s going to be unavoidable.  But you’ll be just steps away when you need to borrow a few ammunition clips.

I know these pictures are getting you very interested in buying this property now now NOW, but you’re probably scoffing that this is yet another unloved patch of dirt that nobody wants and the bank can’t wait to get rid of.  Not true!  Just look at the sales history!
