Gorgeous and Affordable Single Family Home! 3 bedrooms, 2 bath with 1 master suite. Featuring a Delightfully Upgraded Granite Countertops, Stainless Steel Appliances, Hardwood floor Double Pane Windows, and Crown molding. Laundry Inside. Close to transportation, Tanforan Mall, SFO Airport and freeways. Street Parking. Good Size Backyard. Great for investment!

131027-walnut-yardSo, why is this a Realtard’s dream?

It’s not just the trifecta of stainless, granite and hardwood, or the “affordable” price of not much less than not a lot of money.  It’s not even the HDR photography that lovingly picks up every bit of the shredded plastic in the back yard.

Let’s hear the answer from wftf:

I have a perfect representation of the last 2 or 3 housing bubbles, all in one house!

131027-walnut-frontdoorMaybe people didn’t realize planes would be rumbling by overhead and couldn’t take it anymore after a year. This might explain the rapid turnover/flipping activity, but not all of it.

Selling 8 times in 25 years and going for number 9?  That’s got to be some kind of record.

Maybe the agent just has their card laminated onto the room divider when the residents give up.

That’s also a record for the fewest steps from the front door to the kitchen we’ve ever seen.  But check this out, the agent wasn’t kidding about close to transportation. And yes, that’s the airport off the right margin of US 101.

Beautiful Turn-key home in Redwood City

Today’s beautiful home is brought to you by Burbed reader Petsmart Groomer. Thanks very much!  And if you see a house for sale and think it ought to be on this front page, please send it to one of the addresses in the upper right corner. We’ll ignore it for weeks until it goes Pending and then frantically look for it in web caching somewhere.  Be sure to include what name you want to be called so we can “accidentally” use your real one instead.

Beautiful Turn-key home with everything remodeled. Brand new kitchen with stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors, crown moulding, new interior doors and garage door. Nicely landscaped yard. A must see!!

130910-junipero-sinkLooks like the only missing cliché is the granite. But from the picture above, “turkey” isn’t the right barnyard metaphor for this property.  Take a look. This is a classic single-nostril Snout House.  The insanely small lot size is just a “bunus.”

And speaking of bunuses, check out how they solved this common architectural challenge of too few square feet for mandatory residential fixtures.

Now, are you ready for your closeup, 1321 Junipero Ave? Well, you already got one, above. We’d like to highlight how well you play with others, as you  can see in Google streetview.

A must see!!

A house near intrigue, excitement, sex & piles of cash

Tired of your boring life working in a cube farm and returning to your apartment farm? This listing is for you! Best of all, it’s in the center of happening stuff. That’s right! Mountain View!

Thanks very much to Burbed reader dollarbin for not only sending us the listing, but the amazing story that goes with it. Or next to it. Or, if you don’t read this article, may involve the next owner.

Gorgeous light & bright 2-story home! Almost new-11 years old! Gourmet kitchen has granite counter tops. Sep Family Room has gas fireplace. Living Room is perfect for Downstairs 4th BR! Formal dining room. Gleaming hardwood floors & new carpeting. Master suite features spa-tub & walk in closet. Redwood deck is perfect for outdoor entertaining. Large 2-car garage. Lush Landscaping. Mt View High!

130728-tyrella-gleamingWell that’s pretty exciting, an eleven year old house calling itself almost new. We guess if you compare it to the typical Mountain View Eichloid put up in 1956 this place was practically finaled yesterday. If only they’d put in confetti tile to get with the 2010s.

And if the gleaming hardwood floors aren’t enough high drama, then the following story directly from the same block as this house certainly will be.

Blind date robbers strike a third time

by Nick Veronin, Mountain View Voice Staff
Uploaded: Friday, June 7, 2013, 4:33 PM, Updated: Monday, June 10, 2013, 10:46 AM

They did it again.

For the third time in just over a week, a man was lured to the 600 block of Tyrella Avenue believing he would have sex with a woman he met online on top of a bed covered in money. Unfortunately for this man — and the two others who were duped before him — instead of taking a roll through cold hard cash, he was rolled for his cash.

130728-tyrella-rolling

You can read the entire story at the link above, and yes, all three of these dudes actually believed they were going to meet a woman whose fantasy was to “make the beast with two backs on a bed full of Benjamins.”

We absolutely swear that is a direct quote from the Voice.

If only one of these men had bought this house instead of showing up at a rental apartment building, they wouldn’t have had any spare cash to get rolled for. Instead, they could have met a woman online who would join them on top of a bed which is in turn on top of a house covered by an even huger pile of money (never mind that most of it belongs to the bank).

Plus, it would be much harder for her to steal the money that way. Unless she’s with the bank.

130701-hope-bedroomHey, when the first listing photo isn’t the front of the house, you know this is going to be good. By which we mean bad. And that’s good.  Let’s check in with mtv-renter, who may be updating that handle.

I came across this cool place:

$1.2M apparently doesn’t buy good spelling, or a computer with a working CAPS LOCK key. It also looks like a flip.

It sure does, and you can see the before pictures right now on Redfin. (If you can’t, click the address.) Heck, the Pending/Do Not Show status not only pushed it back to the last listing ID, it even gave it a cool Bought With Redfin banner.

You know, these are hardly “before” pictures. They’re actually pretty good.

Our favorite view from the old listing is on the left. We chose it because there’s nothing like spending the big bucks on a stager and HDR photography and then giving the sense that you’re out of TP.

And that sure sounds like what happens to FAMILIES OR EXECUTIVES WHO LIKE TO ENTERTAIN.

Lotsa Listing Lunacy in Los Altos!

Let’s take a look at this lovely lienhold in Los Altos. Today’s featured property brings us lots of great photography.  That is if by great we mean some other word, such as “quaint” or “challenging” or perhaps “well-meant.”  Thanks very much to Burbed reader littleoldlady from RBA.

And since this place is already in contract, Redfin isn’t showing it anymore. Helloooooo, Trulia!

Built in 1955
Neighborhood: South Los Altos
MLS/Source ID: 81317816

1650 Morton Ave DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH-UPGRADE TO YOUR TASTE! This home was extensively remodeled and expanded in 2000. A guest room wing with two separate entrances was added and much of the original house was rebuilt. The finishes and details need attention, but the bones are 130617-morton-hardwoodgood. If you have the vision to imagine your own finishes and colors in place, you could polish this into the gem of the neighborhood, and what a fine neighborhood it is. The kitchen features maple cabinets and a comfortable breakfast area. Granite slab counters would complete the kitchen makeover (and we have a bid of just under $10,000 to supply and install… these). The bathrooms are dated; in fact, the guest bath is so dated it is 1950′s retro! The 130617-morton-kitchenhouse would benefit from interior paint, new windows, extending the wide plank hardwood floors from the living/dining areas or adding new carpet, and bathroom updating. Located on a spacious corner lot of over 10,000 feet, the parcel includes two majestic redwoods, three mature oaks, and three soap bark trees. The trees are near the property perimeter so you can develop the rest of the parcel as you choose. The landscape details and final design are up to you. Priced to allow the new owner the ability to integrate all the details and finishes you desire and still enjoy a valuable acquisition.

130617-morton-paintNow that is one chatty agent. This one went on for more than three picture’s worth of listing copy! Can you imagine having to get in the car and go on a house tour with that dude?  You’ll be glad you brought your earbuds!  Now let’s hear from LOL RBA.

Now wait… I have noticed a pattern in Los Altos. Every nice house gets listed for $1495, or $1498… Then sell then sells for $1750 – $1800. 130617-morton-tileEvery not so nice house gets listed for $1150 and sells for around $1300. What on earth is this terrifying listing? Rebuilt in 2000? Wha’?? What did they rebuild? And is this a nice house, destined to sell for $1750 (um…no) or a not so nice house that will sell for $1300, thereby getting no overbids? Regardless, the house will be in escrow within 7 days, like everything else in the RBA.

I love your blog. My favorite stop with my morning coffee. Your fan.  Sent from my iPad

You know you’re in the Real Bay Area when even the little old ladies correspond with an iPad. And LOL-RBA was correct about the 7 day escrow, or was it more like 7 minutes?

in-ground pool, custom tile entry way

It’s time for another week of Burbed win! You know what that means, right? Sure you do! Today’s fine featured fortress is brought to you by Burbed reader J from Alameda.  Yes, another bit of East Bay win today, in Walnut Creek!

And you know that by “win” we still mean the exact opposite of “win.”

This custom home has over 2000 sq ft of living space located in the heart of Parkmead. Home features an open floorplan, custom tile entry way, hardwood floors, sunroom (permits unknown) and updated master bath. The backyard has a in-ground pool. Call today for more information on this great home!!

130609-newell-open-planLet’s have J check in on why another East Bay property when there are so many deserving listings much closer to Google:

How about a nomination for most trips down Pending Lane? And a few price reductions thrown in for good measure.

Theories? Is it the pool? The unknown sunroom permits? Can’t be the freeway noise since it’s at least a block away. The house is on a busy 130609-newell-poolstreet but just doesn’t look so terrible. What am I missing?

Oh, sure, anyone can take a trip down Pending Lane if all you have to do is lounge around on the bank’s inventory.  And anyone can take multiple trips if the house isn’t in the Real Bay Area. RBA houses are in such demand that pushy buyers are known to force their way into bank VPs’ offices at gunpoint and demand they sell them the house at 10% over asking.

What, you think real bank robbers would hit a place like Cupertino?  And if they did, they sure as heck wouldn’t dare try Los Altos.

As to the house: 8 days too soon to call this an Old LIsting. Lot’s 496 feet too small to be “big.”  But, ah, the photos.  We’re talking win.

WOW! So many exclamation points in Walnut Creek all done with permits!

To finish out the workweek, let’s check out a place perfect for the athlete in us all. Thanks very much to Burbed reader J from Alameda for this well-sited wonder in Walnut Creek.  (You can laugh about our including yet another East Bay listing, but we have just one word to say about that. WOW! Immaculate 3 bedroom/2 bathroom home in cul-de-sac location with separate 1 bedroom/1 bath cottage all done with permits! Gleaming hardwood floors, designer colors, and more. Nicely landscaped yards with Jacuzzi and lighted SPORTS COURT! Walk to Olympic in 2 minutes on nearby trail!

130516-bonita-sportscourtHere’s why J sent this house in:

This is a first: freeway noise wall in a listing photo! Granted its a photo of a cool basketball court but still. Cute house but what’s the air quality going to be like? Forget asking about noise issues. I’ve heard the freeway noise in these neighborhoods described as ‘a waterfall’, ‘white noise’, ‘rushing water’. Will it go over asking? Will it get multiple offers? Could a house with a freeway wall in the backyard ever sell in a market that is not red hot? Discuss.

130516-bonita-collectionsYou see a freeway wall, J. We see a lighted SPORTS COURT!

And note the Redfin Collections this house is part of. Is this a new category we’ve managed to miss until now? How can you even tell a property is subject to a bidding war unless you’re one of the people bidding on it?

Or was this one of those places where you had to wait in line to get into the Open House, where you felt obligated to submit an overbid when it was finally your turn to tour the interior?

UPDATED: Quimby: A street? A neighborhood? So many Questions

BlogAtoZ-QWelcome to one of the Scrabble “bunus” rounds of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge! Yes, some of the letters are worth more points, because they’re Quite harder to play. And there aren’t any cities in the entire Bay Area that start with the letter Q, so we’re going to have to come up with another Quality. And we’ll have the same Quixotic Quest again when we deal with X and Z!

So, are there any other place names we can use? Neighborhoods, local landmarks, that sort of thing?  San Francisco has 118 distinct neighborhoods, and not 130418-norbert-qone starts with the “Scrabble Challenge Trio.”  Ditto for the 33 hoods in San Jose.  (Which raises a Question: why does San Jose, with more geography and more people, have much fewer place names?)

Fortunately, we are about to be Quietly rescued by Redfin, who helpfully has their very own Quirky neighborhood names!

Update 10:16 AM: See added picture and graf toward the end. Quite Quintessential.
